» CHAPTER NINE: THE POOL «

Valerie and Allison walked into the kitchen. AJ and Nick were talking about what TV show that they were going to be on next. When they saw the girls in their swimsuits, they stared uncontrollably.

“Ummm, hello!?” said Valerie after a few minutes.

“Huh? Oh sorry…. do you want some pizza?” asked AJ, being knocked out of his spell.

“Sure,” said Allison, grabbing a piece of pepperoni pizza. They sat and talked about Valerie and Allison’s past.

“So, how long have you known each other?” asked AJ.

“Ever since Kindergarten; we met at the bus stop” replied Allie (Author's Note: Allison’s nickname, for those who don’t know).

“After third grade, I moved a mile away. I had to change schools, but we were still best friends,” added Valerie; finishing her last piece of pizza.

“So, how old are you guys?” asked Nick.

“I’m 16 and Valerie is 15…… the poor little thing,” said Allie, patting Valerie on the head. Valerie shot Allie an evil look. "Sorry.” Nick and AJ looked a little shocked from hearing that they were so young.

“Do you believe that in love, age doesn’t matter?” Nick asked the girls.

Valerie waited for Allie to answer, but she was lost in thought of what Nick said. “Well, yes," replied Valerie. Nick and AJ smiled.

“Well, I will go get the towels, Nick, go show the girls to the pool” said AJ; running out of the room.

“K, come with me ladies,” said Nick, holding out his arms. The girls linked their arms around Nick's and walked out the back sliding door. They were amazed at the sight that they saw. There was a large pool shaped as a guitar, with lawn chairs surrounding it. They were standing on a red brick walkway, which goes out into the grass and around the corner of the house.

There were flowers everywhere. Valerie let go of Nick's arm and walked over to a patch of red roses; which were the same roses that she saw in the room before. She took in a deep breath of the sweet smell. Valerie sighed; remembering what AJ said to her earlier. “Why did he have to say that to me…..”

“Yo! Valerie, come on, AJ got the towels!” yelled Nick, who was taking off his shirt. Allie stood there looking like she was going to pass out.

“Ok,” Valerie yelled running over to Allie.

“Omigosh, look at that nice body!” whispered Allie to Valerie, as Nick and AJ jumped into the pool.

“It’s OK Allie, just breathe!”

“Yeah,” sighed Allie.

“Come on you two, get in the pool,” said AJ with a smile.

“Ummm, no that’s OK. Allie and I can just lay out and get a tan” said Valerie; setting her towel down on a lawn chair. Allie set down her towel in the chair next to Valerie’s. They both, laid down; soaking in the rays.

'It feels so good to sit back and relax,' thought Allie.

Without the girls knowing, AJ and Nick got out of the pool, slowly. They walked over to where the Allie and Valerie were laying; picked them up; and threw them into the pool. It all happened so fast that they didn’t even have time to protest!

“What did you do that for!?!?!” screamed Valerie and Allie at the same time. They were still gasping for air.

“We just wanted to see you two a little wet,” said Nick, with a smile.

“Good thing we knew how to swim!” said Allie, as she and Valerie got out of the pool. Nick grabbed Allison’s waist, and whispered in her ear, "Can we go talk… alone?”

“Sure”

“OK, uh, AJ, we’re going for a walk” said Nick as he grabbed a towel for Allie and led her down the brick pathway.

AJ and Valerie  stood there in silence till they were out of sight.

“Here,” said AJ, wrapping a dark purple towel around Valerie. She loved the feeling of his arms around her.

“Thanks,” said Valerie, turning to face AJ. She was still in his arms; looking up into his mysterious dark brown eyes (Author's Note: Yes, he didn’t have his sunglasses on!! GASP!!!).

'I want to hold her like this forever,' thought AJ. He sighed and pulled Valerie in closer.

'Why do I have to be so young? I wish that I were 21 or at least 19! I want to be with him, but my parents would have a cow… or maybe more!! I wish that I could get inside of his head, to know exactly what he was feeling,' thought Valerie as she leaned against AJ’s bare chest.

“Valerie,” AJ said, looking deep into her eyes, "I………”
