» SHORT STORY «
Hello world! Before I tell you about my wonderful little camping trip, I just wanted to give you some background info on us. Nick and Brian are my best friends. We have been for five years. We do everything together, and we hate spending time apart. They just got back from a tour and now we have to decide who's going to go camping. Why? Just because it's a yearly tradition and they LOVE to do it, although I'm starting to get sick of it. But who am I to argue with them? Well I'm Nicki that's who and I can!
"Nicki PLEASE?!!!!!!!!!" Nick screamed right in my ear.
"Okay, okay. Only if you'll shut up!" I said.
"Yes!!" Brian said picking me up and spinning me around.
"Girl...do you have any idea what you've gotten yourself into?" Keisha my little sister asked, laughing.
"Um, yes?" I asked unsure. "We do it every year."
"Exactly. Remember what happened last time?" Railin my "protective" older sister asked. I cringed at the thought. Last year they picked me up out of my bed while I was sleeping and tied me to a tree. How did I manage to not wake up you ask? I can sleep through anything. And unfortunately, they know it.
"Why are you guys going camping anyway?" Ayanna asked.
"IT'S TRADITION," Brian screamed at my neighbor.
"We're going to have sooo much fun!!!" Nick squealed like a little kid.
"I can hardly wait," I said sarcastically.
"Where exactly are you guys going anyway?" Keisha asked. We NEVER go to the same place twice.
"Don't worry. I know the perfect place," Brian smirked.
"There aren't any little bugs there right? We don't want to scare poor Nicky," I smiled. He stuck his tongue out at me.
"Stop fighting and go pack," Railin giggled.
"Yeah, the faster Nick leaves, the happier we'll all be," Ayanna said. Nick glared at her but ran up the stairs to pack for me. Brian did the same thing.
"Why are they so excited?" I asked.
"I don't know," Keisha shrugged.
"Okay, well, I guess I better go make sure they don't pack me anything stupid," I said going to my room.
~ A Half An Hour Later ~
"Bye NICKI!!!" Keisha said hugging me for the fifth time.
"Bye for the last time!" I laughed as I closed the door and went to Brian's car.
"Ready to go?" he asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be," I said, getting into the car.
The drive there was quite annoying. Nick kept flipping the station every five minutes trying to find a song that he actually liked. He finally stopped when I hit him on the head with a pillow. But not until he changed it to a country station and refused to change it back.
"We're there guys!!" Brian screamed as we pulled into the campgrounds.
"Thank god!!" I yelled happy to get away from my torture. Brian stopped the car in an area a ways back from the entrance. I'm assuming that was where we're camping. Nick bolted out of the car as soon as Brian stopped the car, and grabbed the tent from the trunk.
"Slow down there killer!!" I joked as he quickly TRIED to put the tent up. Notice how I said tried. "Brian, you might want to help out speed racer over there. He can't quite seem to figure out how to put the tent up," I said.
Brian laughed and helped him put it up. Of course it only took 45 minutes, but who's counting? By the time we had everything set up it was pretty dark. Brian started a fire, (how he managed to do this without setting himself on fire is beyond me) and we ate some dinner and told ghost stories. Just as I was about to go to bed, I hear a loud noise.
"What was that?" I asked.
"What was what?" Brian asked eating a marshmallow.
"I heard something," I said.
"Well Nicki dear, it is a campground. I'm sure there are *gasp* other people here," Nick said being a jerk as always.
"Shut up, Nick," I said. Just then I heard another loud noise. "Okay, tell me you guys heard that," I said, becoming scared.
"Uh, yeah, we heard it," Brian said.
"So what was it?" I asked.
"How am I supposed to know?" he asked, obviously agitated.
"You know we really shouldn't have been telling ghost stories," Nick said, looking worried.
"Yeah, that definitely was not a good idea," I said.
"Come on guys. I'm sure it was nothing," Nick said. I could tell he was trying to convince himself, but I didn't say anything for once.
"BOOM!!" We heard the noise again, only this time it was closer.
"Holy crap!! That wasn't nothing!" I yelled running over to Brian.
"She's right, Nick," he said trying to comfort me.
"Guys will you quit freaking out!!" Nick yelled, but we could tell he was just as scared as we were.
"Maybe I should go look around," Brian said.
"No, please, just stay here with me," I said, holding on to him.
"It's okay, Nicki. I'll stay," he said being incredibly sweet which scared me more than the noise. We sat by the fire waiting to see if we would hear it again.
"I told you it was nothing," Nick said after awhile.
"I guess so," I said still unsure.
"I'm gonna go to sleep now guys. I'll see you in the morning," I got up and walked over to the tent.
Just as I was about to lay down, someone sprang up from my sleeping bag, and grabbed me. "AAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!" I screamed. I sat up straight in bed and looked around. I was in my room.
"Haaa!! I got you!!" Nick screamed. It was all just a dream.
I grabbed a pillow and started beating the crap out of him with it. "Don't you ever do that to me again, Carter!!!" I screamed.
"Ready to go camping?!!?" he asked excited as usual.
I was relieved that it was just a dream. Although now I'm really scared to actually go with them. Hmm, that gives me a great idea on how to get them back from last year. Hee hee hee.
