Baba

I know this song is about organized religion, and it doesn't speak very highly of it. Alanis has rebelled against her Catholic upbringing for quite a while now and after hearing this song you can kind of realize her feelings on why. The song goes on to say that the people that are in these religions just want to be holy and they want to know how long it takes and how much it costs. But the truth is, you need to self-evaluate and find your own holiness, its not something that you can pay for. You can't buy spirituality. And then she goes on to sing about how the spiritual leaders just take your money and watch you worship them, and their words, and "smile as the students bow to kiss 'their' feet". So basically, you have to find your own closeness to God and your own personal spirituality, and not have someone else tell you what that is or how it should be.
