Your Smile

Your smile burnt into me,
As the sun radiates into the earth.

Your lips pressed against my skin,
Backed away because I wouldn't give you more.

Your hands and arms embraced me,
But did not know what they were feeling.

Your ears heard nothing from my heart,
	But you would not listen.

Your body stayed breifly next to mine,
Yet drifted away, as a ship departs
	From a sea--unexplored.

Your eyes think they see through me
Like a window,
Yet this window is painted black.

Your heart--your soul--is unknown to me,
	As unknown as a weary dream . . .
 	Yet still,
	Your smile burns into me.

Again, I was 16 when this was written. And yes, it was for a boy... A guy who I believed I could get close to. A guy who I believed would be astounded with me, if he knew who I was, in a good way. He was so distant. Our relationship, friendship, aquaintanceship was so...so...distant. So unworth its potential. But in life there are no instant pleasures or sweatlessgifts.
