She died in a traffic accident near Fillmore when she was returning home to Salt Lake City about six weeks after witnessing the sealing of her daughter Geneve with Alex Ether Swapp in the St. George Temple (about six months after they had been married civilly in her home in Salt Lake City).

Swapp, Elizabeth (Hill)
Elizabeth's family emigrated from Scotland to Canada when she was young, and they were all baptized into the Mormon Church there by Samuel Lake, companion to Parley P. Pratt. Elizabeth married William Swapp in Nauvoo and came West with the Latter-day Saints. They settled in the Salt Lake Valley and were subsequently called to the Dixie and Muddy Missions. They spent their last years around Glendale, Utah. When Elizabeth was a widow, she also spent several years in Luna Valley, New Mexico with three of her sons. The original house that they built for her there still stands.

Grew up in a prominent family in Salt Lake City, met her husband when they were both visiting his birthplace of Tropic, Utah, and spent the rest of her life in Overton, Nevada.
