Elizabeth's family emigrated from Scotland to Canada when
she was young, and they were all baptized into the Mormon Church
there by Samuel Lake, companion to Parley P. Pratt. Elizabeth
married William Swapp in Nauvoo and came West with the Latter-day
Saints. They settled in the Salt Lake Valley and were
subsequently called to the Dixie and Muddy Missions. They spent
their last years around Glendale, Utah. When Elizabeth was a
widow, she also spent several years in Luna Valley, New Mexico
with three of her sons. The original house that they built for
her there still stands.
