She is a model-like elegant figure, but she has cynism and much selfishness in her personality. Actually, she is very friendly and considerate about her friends.
As the only child of the Ryuuzaki's family, she is spoiled by her parents. Their honey-moon mood caused Umi's bride dream. She practices fencing with her 'teacher' Hasegawa and Umi was chosen as the representative player of her fencing club because of her highest skills. She will participate of the fencing tournament, and wants to win back her club's champion title. She is very rich and she lives in a big (very big!!) house with her parents.
She is very short tempered in Cefiro, because of this land's unusual objects and creatures. She is always fighting with Mokona and trying to know what he is made of... ^_^; When Clef said to the girls that they must fight for Cefiro, Umi disagreed with Hikaru's decision of being Magic Knights and wanted to go back home because she had to participate in the fencing tournament, but along the journey, she decides to become a real Magic Knight (to go back home definitelly)
Some differences between Manga and Anime Umi on Rayearth 2: On the Anime, Umi becomes more innocent like Hikaru, because of her conflicts with Cizetta and she likes Clef more than Ascot. On the Manga, she doesn't fight a lot with Cizetta's princesses and she likes Ascot.
