The Khabarovsk Krai has a developed civil engineering system which promotes the function and development of the industrial, agricultural and social sectors of the economy. About 4% of the fixed assets of the industrial enterprises are concentrated in civil engineering.
The Engineering complex has strong production capacities which are comprised of highly mechanized works producing structures and parts for dwellings, industrial houses and basic construction materials.
On the average, 700 thousand cubic meters of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures, 1 13 million pieces of brick, 830 thousand cubic meters of fractionated road material, 218 thousand cubic meters of fire-treated clay gravel, 626 thousand cubic meters of joinery (windows, doors), 98 million square meters of ruberoid and other construction materials are produced annually in the Krai.
The privatization processing of state-owned enterprises in the Engineering complex have been practically completed, and most of the enterprises have been transformed into joint- stock companies. A number of engineering companies have begun to grow with the assistance provided by foreign capital and through the use of foreign technologies, and they continue to do so.
According to the production capacities, the enterprises of the Engineering complex can put into operation 500 thousand cubic meters of dwelling houses and 700 thousand cubic meters of industrial constructions annually.
