In the following channels, you'll find Filipinos worldwide!
Next time you IRC, why don't you try joinin' one? It doesn't
matter if you're not a Pinoyboy like me--all are welcome to join
the party. You don't really need to understand Pilipino.
English is also spoken in the Philippines. Furthermore, an
overwhelming majority of Filipino-Americans have never really
learned their parents' language. (Although they should, but
that's another story.)
So what are the people like on these channels? Well, you'll run
into a very mixed crowd. Like any other group, not everyone
falls under the same generalizations. I guess it would depend on
which channel you visit and what time of day you're online. (The
Republic of the Philippines and North America are pretty much on
opposite sides of the globe.) For Filipinos living abroad, it's
always exciting to communicate with other brown people. Many
Filipino IRCers are good-natured, witty, and have a sense of
humor. Of course, some channels have the younger crowd
flirtin' with each other, talkin' street slang with their
keyboards, and bustin' an attitude that really tees me off
sometimes. A newcomer might wanna lay low in those types of
chats because they sometimes /kick people out just for the
heck of it.
Know of anymore I can add to my list?
