MARKET MOVEMENT

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index  Futures (FKLI) was traded from a high of  488.8 to a low of 461.0, a different of 27.8 index points. The direction of Nov98 futures are mainly influenced by window dressing activities and retail play.

During the week, BNM announced a 50 basis point intervention rate cut while Danaharta acquire NPLs from 10 financial institution which involved AMMB, AMFB, Arab Malaysian Bank, United Merchant Finance, Perdana Merchant, Sabah Bank, MBF, RHB Bank and BSN Commercial. They would issue zero coupon bond worth RM11.2 billion to finance such acquisition.

On Thursday, both futures and cash ended softer as a result of selling due to unclear guidelines on strict declaration of client names held by foreign institutions. The Securities Commission will hold a meeting with the related parties next week.

November futures settled at 479.4 on Friday, a premium of more than 14 index points compared to the underlying of 465.29.

To recap,  total contracts traded for the week were 7,028 contracts, an daily average of 1,406 contracts.The 20-day volatility stayed above 40% level. Total month end open interest stayed at 2,200 level.

MARKET OUTLOOK

The market will remain neutral to bullish as window dressing activities continue. Resistance would be at 510, 495, and 488 while support can be seen at 465, 455, 440 levels.
