You are Professor Oak when he was seventeen, then known as Trainer Oak. Against your parents' wishes, you become a trainer, and set off to defeat the nine gym leaders. In the game, there are nine cities. Viridian, Pewter, Mount Village, Cerulean, Vermillion, Lavender, Celadon, Fuschia, and Cinnabar Island. Pallet Town isn't even created yet, the only building there is the Oak Estate, in the red and blue games it is known as Oak's Lab.
All of the gym leaders are new, except for Giovanni and Blaine. Giovanni is your rival from the academy. In the game, you have a machine similar to a Pokedex, however, you don't have to complete it to win. The game has many new Pokemon. From Klimer, the climbing Pokemon, to Saur; the father of the Bulbasaur family, you'll find the new Pokemon to be most impressive. Some Pokemon aren't in the game, however. TOC (The Oak Chronicles) takes place before the Moon Stone crashed into Mount Pokemon. (Mount Moon) When it did crash, it killed all of the Pokemon that live on top of the mountain, because the radiation was so high, they literally perished in milliseconds, this awful fate also happened to Mount Village.
Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Clefable and Clefairy are some of the Pokemon that aren't in the game. Also, Nidoking and Nidoqueen aren't present. One famous Pokemon is common in one site in the game. Mew will make an appearance in the game, and will be common just south of Pallet Town.
After defeating the nine gym leaders, you are asked to perform a near impossible task. The Police and the Public want you to make an organization to counter a new gang, Team Rocket, lead by non other than your rival, Giovanni. You then set off to find the four best trainers besides you to help govern all trainers. You set off to create: the Pokemon League! However, that isn't the end. That won't be spoiled!
