Wing Chun
I see that you have decide to drop in on my Wing Chun page.
Like I said earlier, I am currenty studing wing chun during my
free time. My sifu teaches Tuesdays and Thursday from 5:30pm Central
time to 7:30pm Central time. Just a little information about Wing
Chun for those of you who do not know what I am talking about.
Wing Chun is the name of a system of martial arts developed
in southern China approximately 300 years ago. Its originator,
the Buddhist nun Ng Mui, was a master of Shaolin Kung Fu and used
this knowledge to invent a way to take advantage of the weaknesses
inherent in the other Shaolin systems. This new system was well-guarded
and passed on to only a few, very dedicated students. Later, the
style became known as Wing Chun, after Ng Mui's first student,
a woman named Yim Wing Chun. In 1949, Yip Man, who was considered
to be the grandmaster of modern Wing Chun, brought the style out
of China into Hong Kong and eventually to the rest of the world.
Grand
Master Yip Man
Like I said earlier, if I trace history back from my sifu,
it leads directly to Yip Man, the grandmaster of Wing Chun. Here
is a picture of the wooden dummy use to help your form as well
as your techniques when practicing.
Last but not least I would like to include a picture of
Bruce Lee, the man who most people try to impose his style of
fighting.
