A Forgotten Universe:
Part One

by Raye/Amy M.

This fic is set a few years after SailorStars, right when the five main Senshi graduate from high school. It introduces a new character, Gingakeino Seki, whose name means "Greatness of the Galaxy." She is the final Senshi from our galaxy, Sailor Universe. If you want to see a really bad drawing I drew of her, click here

There was a time, over a thousand years ago, when there was life on every planet. It was a peaceful galaxy, and there were no such things as war or poverty. The center of the universe was the Earth's single moon, where Queen Serenity ruled over the universe. Queen Serenity was a lovely woman, with long purple hair brought into two buns at the top of her head and the rest of it flowing to the ground, in traditional Moon royal women fashion. She had two daughters: Princess Serenity, known throughout the galaxy as the beautiful blonde princess who wore her hair just like her mother, and Princess Tranquility, a very different girl. Although she was as beautiful as her mother and sister, she seemed different than most other Moonians. It wasn't how she looked, even though she definitely stood out as a Moon Princess who wore her hair in any other fashion than the traditional; Tranquility kept her waist-length dark brown hair in a single braid and rarely wore it any other way. Even though Tranquility was a friendly and generous princess, all of the Moonians could feel something odd, like some sort or aura, coming from her, and usually preferred seeing the lovely Princess Serenity to seeing her.

The only person who was not afraid of the sense of power coming from Tranquility was her sister, Serenity. Both girls were the same age, and they rarely left each other's side. Together, they learned the lessons of being a princess, and one day perhaps becoming Queen of the universe. (Their mother had not told them which one would be Queen, although she always seemed sad and distant when they asked her the question.) Everything was perfect in their lives, until one day when Queen Serenity called for a banquet of the royal families of every planet in the solar system...

*

"Tranquility!" Serenity called as she ran towards her sister with a huge grin on her face, "Look at all the people! I don't think I've ever seen so many fancy people! They're all so beautiful!"

Tranquility followed Serenity back to the balcony. "They're so sophisticated! When does the banquet start? I can't wait to meet them! Look, there are princesses that look like they're our age!" They watched as queens, kings, princesses, and princes elegantly waltzed into the dining area.

Sometimes Serenity would tell Tranquility that she had a strange feeling about a person, usually a princess. "I'm not quite sure, but I feel like I know them. Like they're really close to me. I know that sounds crazy since I've never seen them before, but... AH!"

"What? What's wrong? Serenity?"

"That man!" Serenity pointed to a tall handsome man with black hair who had just gotten out of a carriage. "I feel...I feel strange seeing him. It's something I can't explain. I must find out who he is!"

"I think he came with the King and Queen of Earth."

"So, do you suppose he is the Prince of Earth? We have to find out quickly!" Serenity grabbed Tranquility's arm and started running towards the dining room.

*

Calmly collecting themselves, Serenity and Tranquility remained true to their names as they strolled into the dining room and sat next to Queen Serenity at the head table. "Mother," Serenity asked, "who is that gentleman sitting down at that table?" There was no response by Queen Serenity, she just continued to look straight forward. Serenity and Tranquility exchanged glances. "Mother? Are you all right?"

"Oh," Queen Serenity dropped her gaze and turned to her daughters, "what did you ask?"

"That man! Who is he?"

"That's Prince Endymion of Earth." Queen Serenity looked off sadly again, and the princesses decided it was best not to bother her again. They sat in silence all through dinner, and then watched as Queen Serenity made her speech.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am sure you are all wondering why I asked you to meet me here. I know our kingdoms are peaceful, but times are changing. A friend of mine has told me that it's best that we are prepared for anything, and so we must pick our warriors, our defenders of the universe." There was a lot of talking at the shock of having to have warriors, especially since there had been no reason for warriors in eons.

"Please, please." Queen Serenity motioned for the people to be quiet. "I'd like to introduce my friend, Sailor Pluto." A tall woman with dark skin and long green hair walked into the room. She was dressed in a costume that resembled that of a sailor's, and in her hand was a long staff.

She moved forward and spoke, "I have come to your time to take care of presenting to you the warriors you will, or may, need to defend our galaxy. These people will be known as the Sailor Senshi, and they will fight all evil for love and justice. I will show them their power once, but then any guardians you choose must be responsible for training them.

"They will not be people unfamiliar with you because they are all in this room. I'd like to start with introducing the leader of the Sailor Senshi, Sailor Moon, who is also known as Princess Serenity." There was a lot of commotion as Serenity, not exactly sure what to do, stepped forward. Pluto handed her a small locket and instructed her to say, "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" Once Serenity was fully transformed, she wore a costume that resembled Pluto's, only in a different color. She stood in front of all the people shocked and embarrassed.

"Now, I'd like to introduce the Inner Senshi, protectors of the Moon Princess. They must now remain on the Moon and become Princess Serenity's court, since they must never leave her alone. They are the princesses of Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus." Tranquility watched from her seat as four beautiful princesses hesitantly walked towards Pluto. After they had all transformed, Pluto appointed Sailor Venus the leader of the Inner Senshi and told her she must always protect the princess.

"There are also protectors of the Moon Kingdom itself, the Outer Senshi. They must also remain on the Moon to ensure its safety. I'll start with the princesses of Uranus and Neptune." Tranquility looked at the two princesses: one a elegant beautiful girl with short aqua hair, and the other looked almost boyish with her very short blonde hair and pant outfit opposed to a dress. After they transformed, they joined the other senshi behind Pluto.

"There is another Outer Senshi. However, she cannot remain on the Moon, nor return home. I hope she and her family can understand why she must be put in eternal sleep away from any humans. Her power is tremendous, for she has the power to destroy the universe." There was a lot of screams of shock, and a few women fainted. Every princess there looked worried that it might be her, for no one wanted to be in eternal sleep.

Once everyone had stopped screaming Pluto continued, "She is the princess of Saturn." Everyone turned to look at a small weak-looking girl who had not changed her facial expression when she heard the news; she still looked sad. It seemed she already knew her fate as she walked slowly, almost eerily, to Pluto and accepted her destiny. She transformed and everyone screamed in fear that she might destroy them, but Saturn did not move; she continued to hold her long deadly Silence Glaive as Pluto moved her Orb to transport Saturn to the End of Time.

There was silence. Then there was an outburst of crying from the queen of Saturn. No body said anything as Pluto started to walk away with Queen Serenity. Tranquility looked at her sister and the other princesses, who were still shocked about their powers. "I wonder why I was not one of the chosen ones." she thought, "Well, I suppose it's for the better. I could have ended up like the princess of Saturn."

Pluto came back into the room and asked the Senshi to follow her away from all the spectators. As they filed into the next room, Pluto came up to Tranquility and asked her to come along. Afraid, yet almost pleased that she might be one of the Senshi, she agreed.

After everyone was together, Pluto closed the door behind them. "There is one more senshi. I thought it would be best if we handled this one away from the crowd."

Tranquility gulped. "Handled" did not seem like a good word. "The last senshi," Pluto began, "is the most powerful of you all. She is Sailor Universe, and she has all the powers you have, even Sailor Saturn's." Then she added quietly, "Even mine. She was a child I found in my time traveling..."

"Time traveling?" Sailor Moon asked, "Are you a senshi, too? You can time travel?!"

"Yes, but it is more curse than power. I can tell you more, but we must deal with Sailor Universe. I found her as a baby in the time stream, and the only clue that I have as to how she got there was that she used her time traveling abilities as a baby. I brought her here to the Moon Kingdom and explained to Queen Serenity that she held extravagant power, and she must be raised so that she does not accidentally use her powers again. After a few more problems, she no longer seemed like a threat, however, it is now time to revive the Senshi. And in doing so, I must hide her from anyone who could abuse her power, including herself. I brought Princess Tranquility in here..."

"Tranquility! She's gone!"

*

Tranquility ran from the castle as fast as she could. She did not need to here everything Pluto said to be able to figure out that she was this Sailor Universe Pluto wanted to hide from the galaxy. "All this time," she thought, "Mother knew who I was. She knew that one day I would have to disappear! She knew and she didn't tell me! Why doesn't she try to stop Pluto? I don't want to have the same fate as Sailor Saturn! It's not my fault that I'm Sailor Universe! I didn't want to be!"

Running blindly into the nearby forest, she tripped over a branch and hurt her ankle. Upset and in pain, Tranquility began to scream. A large band of light sprouted from her forehead that formed into a circle of planet symbols. It started spinning and stopped on the symbol of Saturn. Tranquility stopped crying as she realized what would happen; the ground beneath her started to shake and split into two pieces. She started to fall into the hole when a hand reached down and grabbed her. Looking up, Tranquility saw the warm smiling face of her sister as she pulled her out of the hole.

*

"We were lucky her power only affected the small area in the forest, but people still saw it." Pluto was talking to Queen Serenity in her throne room. "We have to put her in an eternal sleep. There's no other choice."

Queen Serenity began to cry. "Why can't we just train her like the others? I've picked out two wonderful guardians, Luna and Artemis..."

"I'm sorry, I know how much you care for her. But her power is too tempting; it could be the start of a war to get a hold of her power. From now on, all of the Senshi are a secret. Everyone at the party will forget; they will think you just asked their daughters to join your court. There never was a princess of Saturn. Only the Senshi will remember her, for they will be the only ones who should wake her if they feel there is no other hope."

"And what about Tranquility, MY daughter?"

"If you'd like, I can arrange it so only I remember her. If there is ever any reason for her to be awaken, then I will remind the Senshi."

"I'll never see her again, will I?"

"I cannot reveal the future when it is not absolutely necessary, I'm sorry."

Queen Serenity nodded and they marched into the room where the others were waiting.

*

Sailor Moon tried to comfort her sister, who was crying softly. She knew if she got too upset again, she could unleash even more power. The other girls were being as nice as they could be to her, but no one could distract her. Suddenly, the door opened and everyone knew the final decision was going to be made.

"Tranquility, I know you cannot help who you are. But your mother and I believe it's best that you are kept safe from those you can tempt with the thought of your power."

"No!" Sailor Moon ran in front of her sister, "She shouldn't have to be punished for something she can't help!"

"It's okay, Serenity." Tranquility put her hand on Sailor Moon's shoulder. "Thank you for caring about me, though. I'm going to miss you." The girls hugged, and then Tranquility walked up to her mother. "Thank you, Mother, for taking care of me even though I am not really your child. You're the best mother a girl could ever ask for." After she hugged Queen Serenity, she walked over to Pluto. "I'm ready."

"I'd like you all to know first that I will change the memories of every person in the universe. Only you senshi will know of your existence and the existence of Saturn. And no one except me will remember the great power of Sailor Universe. Is that okay with everyone?"

Tranquility nodded. Pluto handed her a transformation wand and she shouted, "Universe Galactic Power, Make Up!" Everyone stood in awe as the beautiful princess turned into the astounding Sailor Universe. She glowed a beautiful shade of gold, and you could feel the intense energy coming from her. In her hand, she held a long staff decorated with the signs of all the planets. She nodded towards Pluto, who lifted her orb, and in a flash, Universe was gone. There was silence. Everyone looked at each other. Then there was another wave of light. Universe was forgotten.

It was the 30th century AD, and the war between Crystal Tokyo and the Black Moon was finally over. Only a few soldiers of the Black Moon had escaped the war, and Neo Queen Serenity, eager for peace, let them live their own free lives, as long as they promised to remain loyal to her. Of course, they had agreed, but did not intend on keeping their promise. They kept in touch and decided to have their own meeting in hope to resurrect the Black Moon.

"This is pointless!" one of the soldiers cried, "We can't start any war! There isn't enough of us left. And if the Senshi could beat us when we were stronger, what's the point of even trying to destroy Crystal Tokyo now?"

Pearl, the elected leader of the Black Moon army, hushed the rebellious soldier up, "You, fool! Why are you even here if you cannot believe that we will triumph? Anyone who agrees with this madman leave now. The rest of you will hear my idea that will increase our power a thousand fold. It won't matter how many people we have if we have HER on our side."

"Well, who is this super soldier?"

"If you'd stop interrupting me, I'd tell you. This 'super soldier' is none other than the legendary Sailor Universe!" There was an outburst of chatter as everyone started to argue if she really existed or not.

"Don't you think that if she did exist the Senshi would have already awaken her? She would have already helped during the war!"

"Yes, but even they doubt her existence. Only Sailor Pluto knows how to awaken her. And me. During the war, I found the great Sailor Pluto and was about to attack her, but I heard her talking to another person. I heard every word: what to say and how to revive Sailor Universe. Like the rest of the Senshi, she was reborn into a normal human form in the late 20th century, but they either failed or did not find reason to revive her. So, now the only way to take her is to yank her out of the End of Time, and WE will be the first she has seen in thousands of years. We will convince her the Senshi don't care about her, I mean they are living happy lives while she is in eternal sleep, and we will help her in her revenge. However, she will really be helping us in ours!"

Everyone laughed as Pearl started chanting the words that would bring forth Sailor Universe. There was a flash of blinding light, and all of a sudden there was a beautiful girl looking up at them and mumbling, "Where am I? What happened?"

*

"I can't believe we're finally done with high school!" Aino Minako was jumping for joy outside of Hino Rei's temple. The five best friends had decided to have a party to celebrate their graduation. Minako, Rei, Mizuno Ami, Kino Makoto, and Tsukino Usagi had been the best of friends ever since junior high; ever since they found something important they had in common.

"I can't believe I even graduated! I just barely passed my courses!" Usagi started dancing with Mako, and they both started singing, "School is over! It's over!" Minako jumped in and the three started dancing wildly around the grounds. Rei and Ami exchanged glances.

"I don't understand why you're so happy." Ami pointed out, "All three of you are going to attend college, which is even harder. And plus then you have to work, and especially you, Mako-chan, it's going to be hard..."

"Leave it to Ami to put a damper on things." Mako sighed. Usagi and Minako sat down and pouted. Usagi and Minako were going to attend the local college, about 45 minutes away, full time for the next four years. Mako was going to support herself by working as an office lady and then attend a few courses at night. Ami, being as brilliant as she was, was finally going to attend a school in Germany she won a full scholarship to and try to become a doctor. Rei had decided to take a break from school and devote her all her time to being a Shinto Priestess. Now that her grandpa was not as active as he used to be, their temple needed her to be there all the time.

They sat silently sulking for a few more moments, and then Usagi jumped up. "Mamo-chan is done with college! He's back in Tokyo permanently, and he has a nice job as an intern for a doctor's office not too far away from my dorm! I'm going to see a lot more of him!"

"Well, if you can invite your boyfriend into OUR dorm," Minako butted in, "I will be bringing over ALL of the college hunks that get to go out with me!"

"Who says you're going to be attracting a lot of guys?" Mako blurted out.

"You forget I once was a Senshi of beauty." Everyone stood silent for a few moments. They all remembered too well their hardships and joyous times as Sailor Senshi. As glad as they were for all the good times they had, they were glad it was over with and they could just have normal lives while waiting a thousand years for Usagi and Mamoru to become Queen and King of the Universe. Of course, they tried not to think that far ahead and only worry about the present.

"We're sure going to miss you, Ami." Usagi said to get off the subject.

"I know Germany is far away, but you know I'll come back. And every vacation we have we must promise to get together!"

All the girls nodded. "And you three have to promise to come by the temple whenever you're in town." Rei added. Again more nods. The girls stood staring at each other.

"Well," Minako started, "why don't we see a movie or something? There's a good one..."

All of a sudden, there was a flash of light, and out stepped Sailor Pluto. "Setsuna?" everyone cried at once.

"There's trouble! I need your help once more!"

"Oh, no!" Usagi looked as if she were to cry. "I thought we were done with that! I thought it's supposed to be peaceful now!"

"It will be...until the end of the Black Moon war in the 30th century."

"I thought we fixed that!"

"Something else has happened, and we may be beaten!"

"And you want us to travel back to the future to help you guys fight again? Can't you guys do anything yourselves!?!"

"Usagi!" Ami whispered, "You forget that these people are us! If we don't help them when they ask us, our future is doomed!"

"I don't care! I just want my future to be somewhat of a surprise! It's already written out for me, and it's driving me crazy! Just leave us alone!"

"Usagi!" Rei looked into her eyes coldly. "You listen to me. I don't like having to know my future, either, but it's good in a way because we can help it. We can guarantee a safe future for ourselves and the world. Now listen to Setsuna, and don't interrupt her!"

Usagi looked at the angry faces around her and turned her attention to Sailor Pluto.

"I don't want you to come back to the future. You'd be of no help to us then. I need to tell you something about all of your pasts, but I'd like to wait until we can get everyone together. Michiru and Haruka are on vacation from college, right? Hotaru should just be finishing her high school exams. I'll find them, and you five get Luna, Artemis, and Mamoru."

*

Once everyone was gathered at Rei's temple, Pluto began to tell her story. "During the days of the first Silver Millennium, on the Moon Kingdom, there existed yet another Sailor Senshi. She's the most powerful of all of us because she has ALL or our powers. And the worst thing is, she even has the power to combine them into one gigantic solar system-destroying energy. Of course, her powers were too dangerous and tempting, so we put her in eternal sleep, just like Sailor Saturn. There was never a reason to wake her, so I never told you about her."

"So now you're saying there is something so terrifying in Crystal Tokyo that we have to wake her up?"

"No, that's not the problem! SHE's the problem! Somehow, the survivors of the Black Moon managed to wake her, and since they're the first people she's seen in thousands of years, she believed they are her friends, and she has joined them to get revenge on the Senshi, on us. They convinced her we don't care about her. She no longer exists in the End of Time because they woke her up, but just like the rest of you, she was reborn during this time period. She lived her life as a normal girl, with no memory of her past self, and since we failed to wake her, she eventually went back to sleep in the End of Time. This is the only time period now that she exists in any other way; you must find her and revive her now, so that she will not be in the End of Time in the future."

"How are we supposed to find her? She could be anywhere! And why don't we remember her?"

Pluto glared at Usagi. It was evident that she was very grumpy about having to do Senshi business again. "You don't remember her because I arranged it that way. And use the Crystal to find her, she has to be in Tokyo somewhere. All of the Senshi were reborn in Tokyo."

"But what if she moved or something? She could be in Albania for all we know!" Everyone turned to Usagi. "All right, all right. I'll get the Crystal."

"Good luck, and thank you!" Pluto then vanished as quickly as she appeared.

*

Usagi stepped out of her house clutching the Crystal in her hand. She stared at all her friends waiting outside. "So what do we do with it now? I have to start packing for when I move to my dorm. I don't want this to take a lot of time."

"Usagi!" Minako shouted, "We don't have to be there for two months! I just think you want to get out of this!"

"How selfish can you be?" Rei added, "You're the only one who can use the Crystal; you're the only one who can save all of our futures! Why are you being so arrogant?"

Everyone started shouting at once, and then Usagi started crying. A few years before, it would have been expected of her, but she had matured a bit since then, and this fit of crying was out of character. Suddenly aware that everyone was looking at her, Usagi ran off down the street. "Usagi!" Everyone shouted at once as the started to run after her.

"Wait!" Mamoru called, "Let me!" They let Mamoru go because they knew he was the only one she wouldn't be mad at.

"So what do we do now?" Michiru asked.

"We have to wait for Usagi to come around. She's the only one who can do anything about this."

*

Mamoru found Usagi bawling under a tree, trying to regain control of herself. "Usako.." he began as he let her cry into his shoulder.

"No, don't say anything. I know it's my fault. I really DO want to help our future selves, it's just sometimes I really get mad at the world. I just wanted to be a normal girl. I didn't want responsibilities like being Sailor Moon or the Moon Princess. I especially didn't like finding out I'll have to rule over the universe."

"One good thing about finding all of this out, Usako, was that we were able to find each other. I don't know how I could survive without you, Usako." Usagi looked up at Mamoru and smiled.

"And don't forget about your friends. You've made such an unbreakable bond with them you would never had had if it wasn't for all of this. And don't forget about Chibiusa..."

"I DEFINITELY won't forget her!" Usagi laughed as Mamoru dried away her tears. "Mamo-chan..." They gazed into each other's eyes until they finally kissed.

They were interrupted by a beeping noise coming from Usagi's hand. She opened her palm and saw the Crystal flashing. "Do you think it has something to do with our mission?"

"It must! Look for anybody! That girl!" Mamoru pointed to a beautiful girl with long brown hair pulled into a braid who was walking across the street. They looked at each other, hesitating, and then ran over to her.
