Life, an infinite source of energy beyond scientific understanding. Now this energy has been transformed into a new weapon

The Guyver is a bio- booster, living armor, which makes the concept for the Guyver very unique. I like this because of its originality and action sequences which lead to spectacular battles and to intrigue of the kind of "what will happen next?". The Guyver started as a manga in Japan (Japanese comic book) and was not very famous. The anime wasn't exactly all that famous either but to me is one of the greatest. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it had too much blood. There were only 12 episodes in the series from which I deduce (from reviews) that #5 and #9 are the most violent. If you are interested on buying one is one of the cheapest anime out there. You can easily buy them for about $11.00 over the internet. Visit My Other Links page to find out more

Overview

The show starts when a Zoanoid (the bad guys of the story, humans that can change into monsters) named Malmot steels three Units-G's (guyver units not activated). He wanted to trade Cronos (the corporation that produces zoanoids) his humanity for the units. It turns out that during a battle of a team of Zoanoids to recover the units, Malmot sets off a bomb and one of the units falls into the the hands of an unsuspecting kid who accidentally activates it; his name was Sho Fukamachi. From there on his life really gets screwed up. One would think that a person would love the power the armor provides but he comes to hate it because he soon discovers that anyone that comes near the guyver dies because of Cronos. The guyver's friends are the only exception because Sho protects them. When his life or when the life of someone close to him is in danger is the only time when Sho uses his power. Sho's foes, the Zoanoids, are defeated quite easily by the power the Guyver has. So then You are left wondering what is the point. Well as far as I understand (which is little compared to other fans of the Guyver) the problems come from special zoanoids or for traps created by Cronos. In episode #7 (which I haven't seen just read the summary) Sho falls into a trap and is unable to use his power because he is chained to a Zoanoid in the form of one of his friends, Mitzuky. If Sho transforms into the guyver the energy field that surrounds him during transformation would disintegrate Mytzuky. Sho, with the help of a mysterious stranger (that turns out to be some kind of good Zoalord. A zoalord is a Super Zoanoid that users mind control to control all lesser Zonaoids) is able to learn about his fake friend and obliterates him. In episode #2 the guyver meets Lisker; Lisker activated the second Guyver unit and fights Guyver 1 in a loosing battle. It turns around when Sho discovers that Lisker's control medal (round, metal object in the Guyver's forehead) is malfunctioning and hits Lisker in the head removing his control medal. Lisker dies because without the control medal the Guyver can't control its energy output and the host is devoured alive in a power overload. In episodes #3 and #4, The Guyver confronts Hyper-Zoanoids, which are super powerful monsters. If not for the in intervention of Guyed 3 (also known as the Shadow Guyver) Sho would have been killed. In episode #6 (most fans agree is the best of the episodes in the series) The Guyver terminates with Cronos, Japan (yes, Cronos is world wide) with the help of Guyver 3. Guyver 3 reveals himself to Mitzuky and Tetsuro (Sho's best friend and Mitzuky's brother) as Agito Makishima, son of Mr. Makishima who directed the first attacks to the Guyver. Agito works undercover in Cronos. In episodes #5 and#7 the Guyver confronts the Enzymes (Zoanoids specially created to destroy the Guyver). In episode 5 he is killed when the enzyme rips out Sho's control medal. He is regenerated in episode 6 (the difference with Lisker is that after the Enzyme's battle a little piece of bio-tissue was left from the Guyver 1). In episode 7 Guyver doesn't die but he gets his brain ripped out (I still don't understand how he survived I haven't seen that episode) by his father. Dr. Valkus a Zoalord, turned Sho's father into Enzyme II. That sets the stages for the next 3 episodes in which the guyver cannot transform because the armor detects a feeling of hatred in Sho's heart form having killed his father. In episode 12 the last of the lost units (3 special Zoanoids) Aptom attacks and the Guyver is reactivated and destroys Aptom.
