Black and White Swordsmen Bruce Li in New Guinea Deadly Snail Vs. Kung Fu Killer:('80. Tong Wong, Candice Yu) Fists of Fury: Bruce Lee stars as a country boy in Thailand who swears never to aaaafight again(who knows why) and moves to the city to get a job at an ice aaaafactory where his cousins work. But when his family starts disapearing, he aaaahas to dust off his 'Fists of Fury' and kick...some...ass. In the process, he aaaafalls madly in love with his cousin(?). Um... aaaaFight Scenes: 2- for a kung fu movie, this was awfully tame. There was a lot aaaaof arguing, drinking, and sex but very little fighting. aaaaPlot: 4- the plot is pretty weak(and incestuous) but the ending is surprisingly aaaarealistic. aaaaOverall: 5- although considered a classic because of Bruce, it isnt really all aaaathat great. Invincible Kung Fu Legs, The: The movie opens with Tan Hai Chi killing the evil aaaaFing Chi. Fing Chi's brother, Chang Pao decides to get revenge on Tan. aaaaMeanwhile, Ching Far and Pheonix, a young boy and girl, are unwillingly aaaalearning kung fu from the master Mo Ku Fung. Ching Far schemes, aaaaunsuccesfully to rid himself and Pheonix of master Mo. Then Mo must aaaareturn to his wife who has fallen ill. In his place, he sends his close friend aaaaTan Hai Chi. Ching Far plots against Tan as well - also unsuccesfully. While aaaain town, Ching Far and Pheonix get into a fight with a man called Ding aaaaDong and beat him up. When they return home, Pheonix and Tan Hai Chi aaaaget into a disagreement and Pheonix runs away with Ching Far. Outside the aaaacity, they run into Ding Dong and his brother Dong Dong, who use a unique aaaastyle of fighting together. Tan Hai Chi shows up to save them and beats aaaaup Ding Dong and Dong Dong easily. Ding Dong and Dong Dong run off aaaaand tell their teacher, master Niu, who gains rock hard skin from breathing, aaaathat Tan Hai Chi was talking trash about him. Niu sets a date to fight master aaaaTan. After Tan puts his foot over Niu's mouth, he concedes defeat. Pheonix aaaaagrees to accept Tan as her master. Meanwhile, Chang Pao shows up at aaaaTan Hai Chi's house. The servants tell Chang that Tan ran off suddenly aaaawhen he recieved a letter from Mo Ku Fung, so Chang Pao and his men go aaaato Mo's house to find out where Tan went. Mo refuses to talk so they kill aaaahim and his wife. A group of Chang Pao's men meet Ding Dong and Dong aaaaDong in an inn and the two brothers lead the men to Tan. They run into aaaaPheonix and Ching Far who beat up Ding Dong, Dong Dong, and Chang aaaaPao's men. Chang Pao finds Tan Hai Chi and challenges him to a duel aaaaand is about to defeat him when Pheonix shows up to lend a hand. aaaaFight Scenes: 9- possibly the best choreography I have ever seen. The aaaacapoeraesque emphasis on kicks and ground work made this movie very aaaaunique. aaaaPlot: 5- very traditional plot of teacher/student relations and revenge with aaaaobvious character manipulation. aaaaOverall: 7- a very fun movie. The hilarious team of Ding Dong and Dong aaaaDong , the legendary Fang Fang as Tan Hai Chi, and the great fight scenes aaaaadd up to create a memorable film. Credits
Kung Fu Arts Kung Fu For Sale:(??. Chong Hua, Dirk Morgna) Last Hero in China:(??. Jet Li Lian-Jie, Cheung Man, Dicky Chung Wai-Kin, aaaaLeung Ka-Yan, Gordon Liu. D.-Wong Jing) aaaaThis is quite possibly the coolest kung fu movie ever. It's the first of the aaaanewer movies I've seen(I try to avoid Jackie Chan at all costs) and I was aaaavery impressed. Dicky Chung is hilarious and the 'perverted monks' are aaaasheer genius. The fight scenes are extremely slick and well coreographed. aaaaMy only complaint is that the plot doesnt hold together very well. Also, Jet aaaaLi really reminds me of my personal hero, Fang Fang. aaaaFight Scenes: 9 - The coreography is very different from the older movies aaaaof the 70's and with the help of modern technology and creative camera aaaawork, they are amazing. Also, it doesnt hurt that Jet Li is a superb marial aaaaartist. Plus, he dresses up like a chicken at the end and uses drunken style. aaaaPlot: 4 - The plot twists were really cute, but the way the movie was laid aaaaout, it was really hard to follow the overall storyline. aaaaOverall: 8 - Just let me say this:"We have come here to save your sister aaaafrom the perverted monks". Shaolin Vs. Manchu: A shaolin temple is attacked from within by the Ching. aaaaMeanwhile, our hero, Rocky, is accused of raping a young girl and is aaaaexiled. Rocky becomes the only hope for the temple and of course defeats aaaathe evil leader of the Ching. aaaaFight Scenes: 3- mediocre fight scenes except for the headbutt towards the aaaaend. aaaaPlot: 6- not particularly origional, but well done. aaaaOverall: 9- Chub Chu singlehandedly made this movie great. Six Directions of Boxing Snake Crane Secret:('76. Tan Tao Liang, Fang Fang) Credits
Vengeance of Snow Maid:('77. Mo Ka, Kei-Chen Chen) A youg girl, raised in aaaathe mountains, seeks revenge on the man who raped her mother. Possibly aaaathe coolest scene ever is the one at night where the Snow Maid pretends to aaaabe her mother in order to trick the prince, while the prince pretends to be aaaahis father in order to trick Snow Maid! I dont know, I just thought that was aaaakind of neat and origional. aaaaFight Scenes aaaaPlot aaaaOverall Yoga and the Kung Fu Girl:('79. Chi Kuan Gin, Pai Ying) A young girl aaaacombines yoga and kung fu to create a unique fighting style. Several nobles aaaatry to kidnap her but she kicks their asses. |
I'll finish the rest of the reviews later. I have to go back and watch all of these movies over again. ugh!
