Tournament Rules

    Welcome to the Tournament Rules page.   This page was design to help the competitor to understand the do's and don't while at this tournament. 

1.  Time of Kumite:

• Children's Class:   2 minutes fights pre-bracket

• Men's Class:     2 minutes fights pre-bracket

• Women's Class:  2 minutes fights pre-bracket

2.  Violations:

• Punch or Knee kick to any part of the head

• Kick to the Groin area

• Holding (any parts)

3.  Allowed Punches and Kicks:

• Punches any part of the body (except above areas)

• Kicking any part of the body (except above areas)

4.  Winning Points (ippon gachi):

• Knock Down (down over 5 seconds)

• Opponent gets 4 violations

• Get 2 points (wazaari) of very effective attack to hard damages

• Abandon the fight

5.  Effective Point (wazaari):

• Very effective Punches or Kicks and give the hard damages

• Do violations 2 times

6.  Effective Attack:

• Body Punches

• Face, Body, and Legs Kicks (no knees to head area)

7.  Protective Gear:

• Full Contact Karate (no protective gear)

• Children's Full Contact Kumite will use protective gear

• You can use knee-instep guards (no demerit marks)

• You can use tape for fingers or wrist

• You can use a mouth piece

• You must use a cup (for groin area)

• If you use head, gloves, or shin/feet gear (demerit marks)
