In katakana, doubling vowels is simple, so long as you remember this one rule. Any and all doubled vowels are written with a single straight line. For example:
KONPYUUTAA (computer):
BIIRU (beer):
KUUGAA (cougar):
This rule holds for all doubled vowel sounds in katakana. So be careful to avoid writing the katakana vowel where the should be.
