Japanese Movies

I decided to make this page, since I've exhausted most of the good dramas out there and I've gone on to watch movies instead. :)

Shall We Dance?

This movie is great because it's so widely available to everyone in the subtitled version (even though they did leave out a few translations here and there ;P ). This is a great movie, featuring a salary man who one day appears at a ballroom dance studio to take lessons, all because he saw a forlorn, pretty girl standing at the window. It's good, clean fun for the family, and it's a definite must-see with friends.

Koi wa Maiorita

I guess loosely translated, it's "Love Dancingly Alighted." It's hard to put "maiorita" in English. :P Anyway, this movie is like Yuu Yuu Hakusho meets City of Angels meets Ghost. I think the producer/screenwriter were probably also into anime, because it's almost like a live-action anime (it really is a lot like Yuu Yuu Hakusho). A playboy is suddenly comatized (if that's a word) in a car accident that was actually meant for an old man with the same car whom he had passed earlier. Because of the mix-up, the playboy, Keiichiro (Kei-chan), is allowed a second chance. He must make some woman happy. But since he's a playboy, it's not as easy as it sounds. Some of it drags a little, but once you get into it, the last couple minutes are heartstopping and gut-wrenching.
