Anfernee Hardaway was born in Memphis Tennessee. His nickname "Penny" was from his grandmother who was one of his greatest supporters next to his mom. He was often critized for his height. They said that he was too tall and wasn't a real point guard. He showed the world by his spectacular moves and grace on the court.
One of his greatest assets is his size, power, and unselfishness. He is a great clutch shooter and controls the tempo of the game. He attended Memphis State University where he averaged 20 points and had 392 assists. He was chosen by the Golden State Warriors to the Orlando Magic. His rookie year was sensational. He participated in the 1994 Rookie All Star Game was named the MVP with an impressive 22 points. His success was drawing a lot of attention and popularity. He has a new sidekick "Lil' Penny"! Lil' Penny started with him in many popular commercials. He started in his first movie "Blue Chips" along with his teammate and friend Shapuille O'Neil. He was often commented by the greats such as Micheal Jordan, for his leadership. He was honoured by Micheal Jordan to take on the legacy as one of the greats in the game. He was later named a member of the 1996 US "Dream Team" which won the gold medal. Aside from being a great player, he was a one of the leaders of the tem. Shaquille O'Neil was the leader of the Orlando Magic and a great teammate of Penny, but when he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, the pressure was passed on to him. He was to become the leader now and he proved that he was worthy of his recognition as a leader. He continues to shine and I think that he will be a legend just like the great names of basketball.
