First of all, this fanfic appealed to me only with its title. Actually, once a fic title contains the words "Sohryu", "Asuka", or "Langley", I immediately start reading it with a good impression in mind. And I wasn't disappointed at all by what I read.

As the disclaimer at the beginning says, Ka-Wing used elements from a book named "Ex Poser" by Paul Jennings. Although I never read even one of his books, I can say there's absolutely no need to. I just took weird things to me (i.e. not really part of the Evangelion world) as an element from Ex poser.

Now, the story. The fic is written in narrative mode (also called roman/novel mode) with a POV (point of view) from our beloved Asuka. I can't tell if the whole idea of Asuka taking revenge on Shinji is original, since it maybe has been taken directly from the book (where is the point if you say you took elements from somewhere else if you don't use them? ^_^).

But, I must say it suits the situation and Asuka's personality quite perfectly. As we go on further in the (short) story, we learn more about why she wants to have revenge from Shinji. With the help of Kensuke, (which seems rather impossible, since Sohryu Asuka Langley doesn't need the help of anyone! :-) ) she traps Hikari and then Shinji with the help of a lie detector (possibly taken from the book "Ex Poser", I guess).

No one seems OOC at all, maybe except Rei, who's blushing at one moment of the story. (Rei rarely blushes, and especially for what happened when she blushed in the story) But don't take that as the story's big fault. We rarely see Rei, since this is an Asuka POV-Mode story.

As the fic reaches its conclusion, the tension and suspense is rising with each question Asuka is asking Shinji, thanks to the numerous details about the atmosphere in the classroom around Asuka and the nice descriptions about Asuka's feelings during the "questioning".

The fic is finally a good surprise, in a way that personally, I wasn't really expecting it to end like this, but it's for the better. I won't say anything so not to spoil you.

Overall, this is a good short-fic, rather entertaining. And despite its size, it hides some surprises and contains a lot of details. A must-read for all Asuka fans, like myself.

All for the sake of the instrumentality...

There once was a story. In this story, Sohryu Asuka Langley was angry. This wasn't new. She was angry at Shinji and Rei. This wasn't new either. She wanted to humiliate them. Again, same old, same old. But the means she chose to humiliate them... this is new.

"Asuka Langley, Ex-poser" is a little tale about one special day in the life of Unit-02's hot tempered pilot and her feelings for a certain boy.

I have trouble putting a genre this. Is it a WAFFy fic? A tiny bit. Is it a drama fic? Not really. Comedy then? Well, I don't think it was intended as such, but there are scenes that will make you smile. Introspective? Well, it is written from Asuka's POV, but we don't really go into her head that much. What is it then?

A really good oneshot short fic ^_^

The plot is short, but move smoothly and keeps the reader entertained up until the end. The characterization is very well done, even if Touji seems a bit bold and Rei shows some signs of emotions, (in other words, she blushes in public) but since it's related to Shinji, it's believable. Another good point, it is *very well* written. I love the style and the descriptions, such as the way we can see how embarrassed the characters can get. When I'll have the time, I'll try to read what other stories this author has written. I'm under the impression that it might be quite good.

Something bad to say about this fic? Not really. I really liked it. Only wished I had more to read. But I guess some stories are meant to be short.

So, overall, recommended. The Asuka fans will love this one... as will probably most readers.
