Authors tend to develop their own particular style which may be discerned if they write enough for long enough. Examples of such distinguishing features, to my mind, would be the tenderness in Andrew Huang's humour and romance pieces, the bizarre straight-faced, black-humoured realism of Lara Bartram, and the esoteric cross fertilisation of scene setting and character development of Dan Synder, to name a few. What Jon Wang brings to mind is short lyrical, introspective, and baroque pieces - 'Looking Glass' represents a return to form, previously witnessed in such pieces as 'Scenes', as well as creative growth in a writer.

It is hard for me to summarise the piece with any justice to the author's intent, as it involves a stream-of-consciousness style incorporating several threads, centred on the sunrise and Shinji. In a way, I thought it reflected some of the more positive aspects of Ep.26's epiphany. I enjoyed it and was moved by it, not because of any supposed retention of the purity of Anno's vision (^_-), but because it was a beautiful, sincere piece of writing by a talented author.
