Lara and Ammadeau are, undisputedly, one of the most successful pair of co-authors in NGE fanfic (the other acclaimed duo being CoaEG's John Biles and Rod M), especially with respect to humourous pieces, like the above fic and Role-playing.

The authors have credited the inspiration of this fic from DaR's (Dan Root) 'Ritsuko's Problem' though one can find hints of MP's genesis in other works by Ammadeau and particularly Lara's short 'Ritsuko and Misato' piece. This fic is, to my mind, significant in that it adds the Misato dimension to the standard Ritsuko x Maya story. More power to the continued evolution and instrumentality of NGE fanfic!

The angle into this is Misato and Ritsuko's personal history: knowing each other in college with the embellishment of them having been roommates. Now in NERV, Misato starts to wonder about Ritsuko's sexuality and to develops a reluctant but compelling curiosity about her feelings towards her old friend. Notes to Ritsuko scrawled in the haze of alcohol and spewing forth all of Misato's desire and fantasy in their uninhibited glory. The notes get mixed into correspondence to most of NERV's major characters. Needless to say, chaos and hilarity ensues with the unlikeliest of pairings and clashes - an example of how simple everyday matters can spiral out of control and drag everyone into its vortex of madcap escapades.

My particular favourites was Rei's knowing yet naive use of one of the notes, seeming to relish 'relieving the distress' of others just a little too much. Then again, it's always the quiet ones, isn't it? ^_- The misunderstandings between Gendo and Kaji as well as between Fuyutsuki and Shinji were gut-bustingly funny as well. The ending was a bit of letdown though - rather abrupt and the resolution of the issues raised weren't followed through as well as the rest of the body of the fic. But this fic is anything but conventional. Definitely recommended.
