Mysterious Thief Saint Tail
(Kaitou Saint Tail)

"Lord, please forgive me for I am without tricks or deception."

And with that, Mysterious Thief Saint Tail strikes again, stealing from those who steal, something like a modern Robin Hood. Those students who come to nun-in-training Seira for peer counseling, often find their petitions to the Lord for help answered. It isn't Seira who is Saint Tail, however. It's her classmate, Haneoka Meimi, daughter of a magician who performs the amazing feats. Though she always steals with a reason, stealing is still a crime... along with the fact that she's a mystery. And there's always people willing to take up the challenge, like classmate Asuka Jr., son of the police chief and self-styled detective. He's sworn that he'd catch her and there's no way he's giving up. Success is almost always guaranteed for the Mysterious Thief, but it's just a little harder (but more fun) with Asuka Jr. there to make things more interesting.

What do I think? Well, I think it's just plain cute. The story is great: female Robin Hood in a Catholic (I think) school. It's one of those "mission of the day" shows and just where it's headed, I'm not sure. Her only mission seems to be setting things right by stealing.. Well, that and not getting caught. (Whatever happened to "two wrongs don't make a right?" Not that I'm complaining much, mind you.) Though she has that transformation sequence with Seira before a mission, it's not really like the Sailor Moon transformation. She's some magician herself, after all. Her powers are her own developed tricks. Of course, jumping roofs in the middle of the night is pretty risky. The purpose of those meetings just seems to be to ask for divine protection. Where the name St. Tail comes from, to me, is still a mystery...
