Hiei is curled up on a stout branch in the tree outside Kurama's window, arms wrapped around himself, shuddering. He can't leave. He can't *not* leave. His fingers echo Kurama's, brushing over his lips, remembering the heat of the fox's mouth.
[Just for tonight, one night...love you]
Kurama's eyes fill with tears as he leans out the window, and whispers "ai shiteru."
Hiei's eyes snap open wide; he's rocked against the trunk of the tree with the shock.
And tomorrow...say goodbye...?]
The music gradually winds down to a close as Hiei rises to his feet, his face suddenly calm with resolve.
_END_... or beginning...
Kurama spins around quickly at the sound of Hiei's voice. A dark shape landed on his window-sill. It was Hiei. Was this another dream?
"Kurama..." Hiei trailed off as Kurama reached out hesitantly for him. When he touched real skin, the warmth spreading through his hand, Kurama's eyes widened.
"Kurama," Hiei started again, "I can't love you-" Kurama's wide green eyes filled with tears, making them glisten in the light of the rising sun. He turned his head away, but Hiei saw a tear trickle down his cheeck. "-but I can't not love you. So I do."
Kurama's face whipped around to face Hiei's. A small, tiny, almost non-existent smile worked its way on Hiei's face. The expression Kurama had was priceless in its awe. The still glistening gem green eyes were in a soft expression, and his lips were slightly parted. Hiei gently reached out to touch the velvety soft lips he had gotten to know well over the last night. Kurama gently kissed the digits.
"Aishiteru," Kurama whispered through Hiei's fingers. Then, he wrapped his arms around the fire demon and brought him inside the house.
"Me too, kitsune, me too." Hiei says, as the scene fades out.
