Knowing the Cars
In Daytona USA 2, you can select from 3 cars. Each have different style and characteristics. To select the most suitable car for yourself is the keypoint of winning. This page will help you get a clear picture on the cars.
3 cars are rated as easy, normal, and hard. Their actual meaning is the driving technique required for cornering. For the easy car, simply release gas and steer can make you pass most of the corners safely. On the other hand, hard car requires you to use sliding for corners, which is much more difficult and has a greater chance to get out of control. Obviously, no pain no gain. Car using sliding correctly will achieve a faster speed and a better lap record. We have another section "Golden Cornering" which discuss sliding in deep.
Another concern for newbies is : When should I change gear? In Daytona
USA 2, 3 cars are having the same gear ratio, and the data are as shown on the right. So, shift one up when you are reaching the max. speed of the current gear. However, you should also consider the race track condition. When going up slope, you may remain at a lower gear to maintain higher torque, and vice versa. |

OK. It's time for you to get into the details of the cars. Their speed and acceleration data are listed below. Pay extra attention to the image sequence showing Turning / Sliding Characteristic. It demonstrates how the 3 cars turned differently in the L-Shaped corner of Medium Course.
