| The
band headed for the Western Shoushi Outpost, where they gained an ally
in Katrice Thormad. Together, they made for the mountain
establishment, where before a Gharun man had been spotted.
The path was dangerous, as the recently weakened shadows had reestablished themselves in such deserted areas. Death met the group on the way up, but they continued up the mountain... At last, a settlement came into view
Iwata and Ma Zhirui said that indeed it was the outpost they had spoken of. Upon arriving, there was a Gharun man atop the roof, frantically searching for an escape route. "Stop him! Stop him!" shouted everyone at once. Jojii's Sword rushed to cut off any means of escape. Left with nowhere to turn, the strange man hurled himself off the edge of the mountain, killing himself and cutting off any chance to learn where Basho was. |
But
Iwata shouted to the group, "He left a note!" and the collective
emotions of the group lightened. The message was read to everyone,
as follows:
The intercepted message told much, but the group was too weary to decipher all its meaning. But one thing was sure: Basho-sensei lived, and if he lived he might be found.
Tired, and in need of recovery, the members of Jojii's Sword divided...promising to find their teacher and the devils who took him. |
