The classified section is good and has some useful links. There are archives and if you subscribe to the paper, the archives are free. There is also a yellow pages section.

Dallas Morning News
Classified section is good. The special reports section is good. Registration is required to access some sections of the paper but the registration is free. There are archives but it costs to get an article from the archives.

The Monitor
The search feature of this newspaper is not that good. The online archives go back to 2001. There are about two weeks of obituaries available on the page.

Austin Amerian-Statesmen
This paper covers the state government very well and it has a special section on the state legislature. There is free archive searching and the archives go back to 1989 but payment is required to retrieve an article. The classified section is good.

San Antonio Express-News
This page is a combination of a newspaper and a tv station. There is an archive but is expensive. The page has 10 days worth of obituaries. There are some video clips
