John Mayer
Age: 22
Albums: Inside Wants Out, Room For Squares (Latest)

Y'all probably haven't heard of John Mayer, I didn't know who he was either until I heard his song "Back To You" on an episode of Real World: New Orleans.  After watching the episode, I ran to my computer and looked up the singer of this song and immediately downloaded all of his other songs.  I don't think he knows how to write a bad song because every song I've downloaded so far is awesome.  I'm usually more a music girl than a lyrics girl, but Mayer's lyrics are an exception.  He has written some of the most creative lyrics I have ever heard.  He sounds a bit like Dave Matthews, but Dave does not even compare to John.  His CD isn't very easy to find, since he's not a mainstream artist, but if you do find it, BUY IT!  It's soooo worth the money.  I think I've found my Summer 2001 obsession!!!

Songs To Download:
1. Back To You
2. Love Song For No One
3. Why Georgia
4. My Stupid Mouth
5. Sucker

David Tao
Chinese Name: Tao Zhe
Age: 30
Albums: Taoism, I'm OK (Latest)

David Tao is my favorite solo artist of all time.  Not only does he sing really well, but he writes all his songs, he produces his own songs, and he produces other singers, too.  I've been a fan of his since the beginning of his singing career and my dying wish is to see him live.  I highly highly highly recommend his first album, "Taoism"...every single song on that album is good.  His second album, "I'm Ok" is also really great, not as great as his first one (that's cuz the first album's, like, a masterpiece) but still very very good.  I also got his VCD and it's got every single mtv he's ever made...LOVIN IT!

Songs To Download:
1. Everyday (Close To You)
2. Blue Moon
3. Regular Friends
4. Leave
5. Everything's Gone
Ken Hirai
Age: 29
Albums: Stare At, Un-Balanced, The Changing Same (Latest)
Latest Single: Miracles
Ken Hirai is like the David Tao of Japan, he sings as well as writes his own music.  I started getting into his music this summer and his album, Changing Same, is one of the best Japanese albums I've ever heard of.  He is extremely talented and his voice gives me goosebumps!!  He's not that big in Japan, so I don't know much about him, except that he's a really great singer...even my mom likes him!!

Songs To Download:
1. Rakuen
2. Flower Is You
3. Why
4. Affair
5. Taboo (Single)
Utada Hikaru
Age: 18
Albums: First Love, Distance (Latest)
Latest Single: Can You Keep A Secret (theme to Kimura's new drama "Hero"!!!!)
Utada Hikaru is without a doubt, the most popular Japanese female singer right now, and I can totally see why.  Although she's only 17, she writes all of her songs.  Her singing isn't exactly the greatest, but at least it's not too bad.  The important thing is her music is great.  There's not one song of hers that I don't like.  She just started her freshman year at Columbia University...dayam smartie.

Songs To Download:
1. Automatic
2. Time Limit
3. In My Room
4. Moving On Without You
5. First Love
Here she is with Takuya....lucky girl....
Jay Chou
Age: 22
Albums: Jay (Self-Titled)

So this is my new favorite singer.  He's like a younger version of David Tao and his songs are kind of similar but less Americanized.  Jay writes his own songs as well as the lyrics so lots of people are calling him "Little David Tao"(which is a HUGE complimant =D ).  His singing abilities aren't as great as David, but still very good.  I also like how he doesn't dress all fobby like other Chinese guy singers and doesn't wear tight pants (yech...).  Yea....so go and buy his CD cuz it's really good.

Songs To Download:
*Sorry, these are rough translations of the song titles
1. Young Girl
2. Counterclockwise Clock
3. Perfect Suggestion
4. Cute Girl
5. Tornado

Craig David
Age: 20
Album: Born To Do It

I first heard about this British Craig David when I was looking at the English charts on MTV-Asia, Channel [V] and other asian music sites and saw that his song "7 Days" was number one on, like, all of them, so I downloaded it and liked it...a lot.   He's just recently started promoting his stuff in the US.  His album is awesome.  After listening to "7 Days" and "Fill Me In", I downloaded the rest of his album and the other songs were great, as well.  It's actually so great that instead of listening to his album on mp3, I'm gonna buy the real CD when it comes out in the US.  Anyways, I saw his video today on MTV and I was like, dude... I should put him on my page, so yea...he's good.
