Are those your eyes, is that your smile
I've been lookin' at you forever
But I never saw you before
Are these your hands holdin' mine
Now I wonder how I could of been so blind
For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin' back at me
Now I understand why love is...
Love is... for the first time...
Can this be real, can this be true
Am I the person I was this morning
And are you the same you
It's all so strange how can it be
All along this love was right in front of me
For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin' back at me
Now I understand why love is...
Love is... for the first time...
Such a long time ago
I had given up on findin' this emotion...
Ever again
But you live with me now
Yes I've found you some how
And I've never been so sure
And for the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
Can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin' back at me
Now I understand why love is...
Love is... for the first time...

For The First Time (Part One)

Mamoru now nineteen-years-old entered the Arcade where his best
friend Motoki Furuhata worked. As the years passed memories of
Usagi had almost faded but once in awhile he thought of the young
girl with dancing blue eyes and golden hair. He waved to the
handsome young man who was wiping the counter and then walked over
to him.
"Hey Mamoru", he greeted and grinned as he looked behind Mamoru
to see the obviously love-ridden teenage girls drooling over his
best friend. How oblivious could Mamoru be? "Your fanclub is here"
Mamoru turned to see not just one but SEVERAL girls gazing at him
with lovesick eyes. He waved and smiled weakly. "So what's going
on?"
"I'm going home to visit my parents and Kyoko", Mamoru said. Kyoko
was his two-year-old sister who just happened to be his biggest
worshipper. Little Kyoko adored her brother and when he came to
the house followed him wherever he went. Except for the bathroom.
There he drew the line. Mamoru loved his sister nonetheless. "My
parents said that they had a surprise for me" He sighed. "Last
time they told me that my mom was pregnant"
"Well good luck", Motoki replied when the door opened and in came
a group of girls. All close friends of Mamoru. Rei Hino was almost
like one of his family and he like one of hers. She was a dark-
haired, exotic looking girl with eyes like a gypsy. Next to
her was Minako, a bubbly blonde whose beauty made men stop
in their tracks and gape. Next to each other, it was like day
and night. Besides Minako was Ami, a girl genius who Mamoru
had worked with before, he had also worked with her boyfriend
Urawa. Last but definitely not least was Makoto, whose strength
he admired. She was one girl who put up with NO ONE. These girls
besides Motoki were his best friends. "Hey everyone. What can I
help you with?"
"We're broke so how about hooking us up with some sodas,
sweetie", Minako said and gave Motoki a wink. Did he forget to
mention they were together? Seriously together? The heat between
them could warm a family of ten. Obviously in Minako Land Motoki
forfeited the drinks over.
"I love when she works that feminine charm", Rei said with a laugh.
"Did you know that some guy actually ran into pole when he saw her
from across the street. Minako you're ruthless"
"I do what I gotta do"; she answered with a smile. "How's Kyoko
Mamoru?" Minako often baby-sat for his little sister; she was
the only one who had enough energy to deal with her.
"By the way, did you ever find out where she hid my purse?", Makoto
asked as she sat on a stool.
"And my wallet?", Ami added. "I saw your mom shopping with Kyoko this
morning. She said they were having company over tonight"
"I feel a love connection coming on", Minako teased. "They're having
company over. You know it's a girl. Remember the last time they had
company over? The girl they tried to set you up wanted to have her
children with YOU! Or so it says in her letters!"
"Yeah all THIRTY of them", Ami countered and laughed. "Well good
luck Mamoru. Maybe Kyoko will flush her watch down the toilet like
that other girl" It was obvious that Mamoru's parents were bent on
finding him a girlfriend.
"Speaking of watches, what time is it?", Mamoru asked.
"Ten to six", Ami told him and he gathered his things.
"Well I guess I've gotta go", he said and gathered his things.
"Good luck Mamoru", Rei said. "If it's another girl hope she's not
a dud" He laughed as he ran out of the Arcade somewhat afraid of
his the upcoming visit to his parent's house.
************************************************************************
"Mom, dad!", Mamoru yelled as he slammed the door of his parents
house. As soon as they door shut with a BANG, he heard the familiar
quick, tiny steps of Kyoko.
"NO KYOKO! DON'T DROP THOSE EGGS!" *SPLAT* Too late. He cringed as he
heard his mother yell and suddenly as quick as a whip Kyoko Chiba had
her arms around her brother's leg. She was pint-sized girl with raven
black hair to her shoulders and luminous emerald eyes that shone with
admiration as she looked at her brother. She wore a red shirt and
a small khaki skirt with a small horse on it. Today she wore a cowboy
hat on her small head.
"Hey cowgirl!", he said as he lifted her into his arms. "Were you
helping mom in the kitchen?"
"I get to hold the eggs!"; Kyoko informed him cheerfully and gave
him an adorable grin. "Mamo, you stay for dinner?" Maeko ran into
the hallway to see her Mamoru holding her young daughter.
"Mamoru, don't slam the door like that again!", she scolded him
lightly with a smile. "She's knows that you're the only one that
slams the door when you come here" Mamoru put his little sister
down and Maeko hugged her son. "I've missed you, even though you
only live a few blocks away. You hardly visit!" He looked at his
mother. Though in her early forties, his mother was still youthful
looking. She was a great beauty with midnight black hair that she
kept in a neat braid and turquoise blue eyes.
"Is that my long lost son?", Toshiro joked as he walked into the room
and wrapped an arm around his wife's slender waist. He was an older
looking version of Mamoru except that his hair had turned lavender
black with age and his eyes were a dark forest green which Kyoko
had inherited. "We missed you kid"
"Sorry dad, I've been studying extra hard", he apologized but gave
his dad an easygoing smile.
"Mamoru could you do me a favor? We need eggs"; Maeko said and
practically shove her son out the door. "The guests will be here
any minute"
"Speaking of which, who are the guests?", he asked before she could
close the door him. His mother gave the smile telling him that he
should panic.
"Don't worry about it", she said and quickly close the door behind
her. Should he worry? DEFINITELY.
*******************************************************************
Mamoru walked up the steps that led him up to his neighborhood when
he heard something drop. Stopping in front of him he stooped to pick
up a beaded bracelet with Japanese characters painted on each bead.
Another hand reached for the bracelet and Mamoru looked up and froze.
Blue met blue.
A girl of sixteen with long blond hair and sparkling blue eyes gazed
at him as her creamy hand claimed her bracelet. For a moment it was
quiet and the girl smiled at him with her heart shaped lips.
"Is this yours?", he asked finally as they stood up. As she took the
bracelet from him her hand grazed his and Mamoru felt a current go
through his body.
"Thanks", she said and pushed her hair from her pretty face. She
held out her hand. "I'm-" She looked at her watch. "Oh no! I'm
late! My mom is gonna kill me! It was nice meeting you! I've
gotta go!" She descended down the steps. For a moment he stood
dumbfounded by her beauty and in utter confusion. "Hey!" Someone
yelled to him and he turned to see that she was at the bottom of
the stairs. "Catch!" With his free hand he caught the bracelet.
"They'll probably look better on you!" Then she was gone. As quickly
as she had entered his life, she had suddenly disappeared.
*******************************************************************
Opening the door to his parents, Mamoru heard laughter coming from
the living room. A woman with dark blue hair appeared in the hallway
along with his mother. He recognized her immediately.
"Mrs.Tsukino?", he said with a grin and she threw her arms around
him giving a motherly hug. "I can't believe it's you!"
"Mamoru! What a lady-killer you've become!", Ikuko said with a grin.
"That's Mamoru! He's a carbon copy of you", Kenji remarked as he came
into the hallway with Toshiro. After he gave Mamoru an dad-like
embrace, a ten-year-old boy joined them. He had dark eyes and light
brown hair. "This is Shingo!"
"Nice to meet you", he said and the boy gave him a mischievous smile.
Him and Kyoko would wreak HAVOC on this house. That only left one
person...a squeal of laughter came from the living room. As they all
walked into the living room, Mamoru saw a waterfall of canary gold
hair attached to a pair of yellow "odangos", as he would call this
particularly strange hairstyle. Kyoko was in heaven as the girl
tickled her. She looked up and he stopped in his tracks.
It was her. The girl at the stairs.
She stood up slowly and Kyoko rushed to his side. For a moment the
room was quiet; a pin could be heard from miles away. He couldn't
believe that the girl he had met the stairs, the unbelievably gorgeous
girl he had met at the stairs was the girl he once considered a sister.
For goodness sakes was fate cruel? He use to throw dirt at this girl!
She wore a pair of blue jeans and a cream turtleneck with boots. The
outfit accented her feminine curves and he had to shake his head to
come of his stupor.
"Mamo-chan?" she said after the quiet moment and her enchanting face
brightened with a small smile. Usagi walked up to her old friend
and looked up at his handsome face. He had changed from when she
last saw him. His face was masculine and strong. Mamoru was very
handsome, she had to admit. She hadn't really noticed when she saw
him at the stairs. "I can't believe it's you"
"And you Usako", he said quietly. "You're...you're...indescribable"
"She's an absolutely beauty", His father said. "You're sixteen now,
aren't you?"
"Yes Mr.Chiba", she responded politely with a smile.
"Dinner's ready", Maeko said and put an arm around Usagi. She turned
to look at him and their eyes met. This would be one LONG dinner.
*******************************************************************
The dinner was served buffet style on a long table in the kitchen.
Maeko had decorated it nicely with a long lace tablecloth and long
candles burning in the middle. There were different varieties of
food, sushi, tempura and ironically dumplings. Usagi however was
somewhat clumsy. As she picked out a dumpling with her fork it
fell and rolled under the table.
"Damn", she muttered as she got down on her knees and under the
table. And there was Mamoru also on his knees picking up a piece
of food. Either it was fate or something was going on with the
food. She looked at him and smiled. "Hey"
"Food trouble?" he asked and grinned. Something in her stirred
when he smiled. Fate had also decided to play another trick on
them and was sending Kyoko to help. Being the adorable but
mischievous child Kyoko stood next to Usagi and delivered
a swift kick to Usagi's bottom. Usagi in turn fell towards
Mamoru-
And their lips met.
The kiss was quick but somehow changed their whole perspective
of one another. Something changed. In a way it scared Mamoru yet
excited him.
"Sorry that was an accident", Usagi said as she blushed crimson
which Mamoru though was lovely on her cheeks. Kyoko wasn't finished
yet...this time she delivered a swift kick to her brother's bottom-
And their lips met. AGAIN.
"Sorry that was an accident", he said to her. Mamoru could have
slapped himself! What an idiot! How could he let that happen? AGAIN?
"Did you tongue accidentally go in my mouth too?"She asked bluntly
with a small smile. Suddenly she looked down; did she just say that?
SHE could've slapped herself! One word. IDIOT. "Ohmigod, I'm such an
idiot" Usagi muttered to herself and got up. They scrambled up from
under the table and their eyes met from across the table. They knew
that this was something they'd keep between them. Usagi walked over
to him. "Not a word dear brother"
Mamoru's heart sank. BUT WAIT?! Why should he even cared that she
didn't like him like that? After all they were childhood friends...
he could not forget the feeling he had however when she kissed him.
But it was just all in his mind! Right...?
