The Joy (Part Five)

Mamoru ran into the hospital not knowing or caring that he had ran over
a least a dozen doctors. After yelling at a nurse at the front desk he
finally found Usagi's room. Walking to it he saw Rei coming out, she
gave him a scolding look but then saw the concerned expression and her
eyes softened.
"How is she?", He asked breathlessly and ran a nervous hand through
his hair. "How is the baby?"
"Both of them are okay", Rei informed him. "They just said that
sometimes you can get a feeling like you're going into labor in
your sixth month" He could tell she was still wary of him.
"Can I see her?", Mamoru replied with hope in his eyes. Rei crossed
her arms. She looked into his tired, sad eyes and sighed. Finally
she nodded at him.
"Don't upset her Mamoru", She warned and opened the door for him.
Rei hoped this would work.

Inside the room Usagi's eyes met Mamoru's as he enter and she
clasped her hands together tightly. She looked beautiful with
her hair going down her back and her sweet, solemn eyes looking
at him.
"Are you alright?", He said quietly and tenatively walked towards
her. "Is the baby feeling okay?"
"WE are doing just fine", Usagi said angrily and in spite of herself
her eyes filled with tears. "What are you doing here?"
"I was afraid something happened to you and the baby", Mamoru said and
sat on the bed. It was silent for a moment. "Usako, will-"
"No, I don't need this right now", She said in a choked voice. "Please
just leave. You don't care about me or this baby"
"How can you say that?", He asked her. "All this time Usako I was
afraid because...I don't know how to be a dad. A orphan who's never
felt a parents love, how could I raise a kid? But I saw that tape
and I saw that life inside you, it became a part of me. MY kid and
you know what? It was the best feeling in the world next to loving
you"
"Mamoru, I can't take any heartbreak", Usagi said and shook her head.
"Not now, now at this point-"
"Don't stress out Usako, the baby can feel it", Mamoru said and her eyes
widened in surprise.
"How do you know?", She asked as a smile began to peek through her lips.
"I read up on it", Mamoru said.
"Really? What else have you been doing?", She asked him suspiciously.
"Baby shopping, moping, reading and thinking of various ways to make
you forgive me", He answered with a handsome grin. "...And I also
traded in the sports car"
"YOU'RE LYING!", Usagi said to him and laughed. "I can't believe this"
"Yup, traded it in for a family car...just needs a family", Mamoru
said and he took her hand. "I've also been shopping for this" He
pulled out a small box and handed it to her. "Open it" Carefully
she opened it to reveal a thin gold band with a HUGE diamond on it.
Usagi looked at it and looked at him with tears falling down her face.
"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen", She whispered and
looked at him.
"Be my wife Usako", He said in a hushed voice. "Marry me" Mamoru
slipped the ring on her finger. It fit perfectly. Usagi thought for a
moment and on her face slipped out the most enchanting, bedazzling
smile. She bit her lip to prevent the tears from falling. It didn't
work.
"I will. I WILL!", She said and threw her arms around him. She sobbed
and he kissed her through her tears. "On one conditon"
"What?", Mamoru asked.
"Don't ever wear that stupid shirt AGAIN"

Outside the door....
"YES!!", Rei yelled and several people turned to look at her. "They're
back together!" The group let out one loud shout together.
"I knew it!", Minako said and turned to Motoki. "Pay up" He forfeited
the money happy that two were back together.
"You had a bet going on?", Mirichu asked with her arms crossed.
"Yup, I said they'd get back together and Motoki here said that she'd
throw her bedpan at him", Minako said.
"I'm not using a bedpan!", A voice said and everyone turned to see Usagi
smiling at them with Mamoru beside her. An arm protectively around her.
"Yeah and um...Motoki you're probably gonna have to pay double...cause
we're getting married" With that the couple walked back into the room
closing the door behind them.
For a moment all they could do was stare at each other.
"WHAT?!", They all yelled before rushing into the room.

"Baby, don't worry. I PROMISE he won't try to strangle you again",
Usagi said but quickly straightened his collar. It was so mommy-like
and he smiled at the fact that Usagi's maternal side was coming out.
A week ago Usagi had been released from the hospital but they had
stalled in telling her parents about their engagement. She took a
deep breath and rung the bell. "Here goes nothing"
"Usagi!", Ilene greeted her joyfully with a hug. "Honey! You're
so...BIG!" The two hugged happily and Usagi released her mother
so that she could hug Mamoru. "I'm so happy you two got back
together!" Ilene shot a quick glance at the ring on Usagi's finger.
The diamond was HUGE, bigger than she thought. Than her smile faded.
"Your father is upstairs being stubborn" She sighed. "I'll go get him"
Ikuko disappeared upstairs and the couple sat in the living room.
Mamoru looked around the room examining anything that Mr.Tsukino
could possibly throw at him or hit him with. Nothing so far, nothing
removable anyways. But suddenly as he moved in his seat he felt a hard
lump under his seat.
A GUN!
Never mind, he peered below him to find a remote control. He sighed in
relief and held Usagi's hand even tighter. Finally after awhile Ikuko
and Kenji walked in.
And boy did Kenji look mad.
"Daddy!", Usagi said and hugged him happily.
"My baby!", He responded and hugged her even more tighter than he
already was. "Mamoru" Kenji frowned at him and then sat down. "So
what brings you here?" She put her hand in his as she held Mamoru's
hand with her other.
"Dad, I don't know if you'd be too thrill but Mamo-chan and I are
getting married. But I love him and gosh he sure does love me" Her
voice began to choke. "And I know you might not love him yet but
please for me just try" Her eyes began to water and the tears fell.
Mamoru's own eyes began to fill also for all his life he had wanted
the love of a father and he felt it impossible to find it in Kenji.
But miracles do happen.
For Kenji was smiling at him and taking his hand. His own eyes full
of tears. It was the first time Kenji had saw the real Mamoru, not
the cold-hearted playboy he saw in his mind but the sad Mamoru who
was looking for a parent's love. He had found it.
"I have a been a foolish man Mamoru", Kenji said. "I never looked
at you with open eyes or even an open heart. I only saw you as the
man who taking my little girl away. But Usagi is not a little girl
anymore but a woman. A woman who I see you love so much. Do you
know how happy you have made me?" His face brightened. "You have
made one of my wishes come true. A wish that my daughter will
always be happy and I know she will...with you"
"O-Oh d-dad", Usagi said through her voice quivering and hugged
him. "Thank you" Mamoru carefully joined in the hug followed by
Ikuko. He had a family now. Usagi finally dismembered from them
and wiped the tears away. "Enough tears! We have a wedding to
plan!" Her eyes met Mamoru's and she felt his joy in hers.
And that's when Usagi realized how much she loved him.

Later that night the couple laid in bed, Mamoru read a book on
baby care as Usagi laid next to him. Her hand laid on her stomach
contentedly.
"Mamo-chan", She said and put his hand to her stomach. Mamoru felt
a utter feeling of joy in here. That was his baby. "She's so strong"
"She?!", He said. "How do you know it isn't a HE?"
"Are you kidding?", Usagi responded. "Do you think God would punish us
with another YOU?!" She laughed jokingly at him.
"And how about another you? The baby's cries will break eardrums!",
Mamoru said to her. In response she threw a pillow in his face. "Hey!
What was that for?"
"That's for loving me", She said to him and kissed him softly on the
lips. "And that because I love you. Now go to sleep" Mamoru turned
off the lights and wrapped his arms around her. "You know what? I
would never marry anyone but you Mamo-chan. And I would not have
anyone's child but yours, I know you feel the same way. I knew
you'd come back to me somehow"
"So why did you not talk to me all these months?", He asked curiously.
"I wanted to see if you'd really get rid of your car", She replied
simply. The two burst into chuckles. It was only Usagi who could
make him laugh, smile and cry at the same time. Only with her did
her feel every feeling in the world at the same time.
And that's when Mamoru realized how much he loved her.
