TEARS IN HEAVEN (Part one)
BY: JLALA (jlynpinay@aol.com)
Usagi Tsukino pushed her golden bangs out of her face as the wind blew
them back. Usually she hated windy days but the summer's heat had made it
almost unbearable to even walk outside. It was getting cooler today and
she was grateful for that. Strolling down the street she didn't seem to
notice or at least care that many men, young and old took notice of her.
With long honey blonde hair and turquoise eyes that shone like two
jewels it only seemed natural that they would. She had just come back
from the library. The last place that she would have been caught in
when she was a teenager. She was older now and college wasn't for lazy
people. Usagi would have to straighten up or get kicked out. Walking
into the local arcade and Ice Cream Parlor. She waved at the handsome
man with sandy blonde hair who was wiping the counter. Her boyfriend
Motoki Furuhata. Skipping over to him she leaned over the counter and
kissed him on the lips.
"Hey sweetie", He said and put he rag away. "You're early" The two were
on their way to have an early dinner. Usagi noticed that her boyfriend
looked kind of tired, not to mention that his face seemed flushed. Her
brow furrowed and she felt his forehead.
"Motoki, are you feeling alright?", She asked concerned. "You look sick"
She jumped over the counter next to him and looked at his face.
"I'm fine, I was just feeling a little dizzy this morning" He smiled
and took out a medical book. "I guess I've been studying too much"
Motoki wrapped his masculine arms around her waist and she giggled
feeling his warm breath near her ear. She turned and wrapped her own
arms around his neck.
"Maybe you should take a few days off", Usagi suggested. "We can have
a little vacation and since you haven't been feeling well lately
I'll nurse you back to health" She was referring to Motoki's current
headaches and tiredness. Not to mention the dizziness he told her
about today.
"Are you gonna wear one of those cute nurse uniforms?", Motoki inquired
and their lips were inches away. The couple was oblivious to the fact
that they were surrounded by children. Some were even gawking at them,
most of them were girls jealous of the blonde goddess who was about
to kiss Motoki.
"Yeah, even the stupid white hat", She said and moved in closer to kiss
her boyfriend-
"Don't you guys have some other place to do that?" Usagi turned quickly
to see a good-looking man with dark raven hair. She groaned and
reluctantly let go of her boyfriend.
"Haha Mamoru", She said."My boyfriend and I have to squeeze in some
affection time. We both have been too busy lately to even get in a
hug" Mamoru Chiba was her boyfriend's best friend. A little mysterious,
in fact she had crush on him before. That was right before she had her
second crush on Motoki.Mamoru was a cute guy, a 'hottie' in the words
of her friend Minako. That was before she got to know him. The guy most
of the time now got on her nerves. It always seemed like he had
something up his ass. Motoki said he was a good guy though. "What do
YOU want?"
"I had to get my book back" Motoki handed his friend the thick book.
"Also I wanted to give Motoki this." He put a medicine container
with multi-colored pills in it. Usagi raised her eyebrows and Motoki
stuffed them quickly in his apron.
"What's that?", She asked suspiciously and Mamoru was surprised that
his friend did not mention this.
"I've been having trouble sleeping", He said to her."These are just
some capsules to help me out" Motoki smiled at his girlfriend to
reassure her. "Can you get me my jacket in the back?" She shrugged
and walked into the back room.
"Why didn't you tell Usagi how bad your headaches are?", Mamoru inquired.
Motoki had been having the worst migraines and in spite of his cool
demeanor he was starting to worry.
"She's been so stressed out about pulling her grades up that I don't
want her to worry", Motoki answered. "Don't tell her, okay?"
"I don't know-", Mamoru said.
"Please", He begged and seeing the pleading look on his face, Mamoru
nodded hesitantly. Motoki put a finger to his lips."Mum's the word"
**********************************************************************
"Isn't this place WONDERFUL?!" Usagi threw her arms up and spun around.
Motoki laughed but caught her when she almost fell. The two had found
a picturesque part of the park, right next to the lake. They had set
up a picnic under a weeping willow. The place was practically secluded
except for an occasional jogger. She dipped a foot in the water they
went up to her boyfriend wrapping her slender arms around his neck.
Quickly he spun her around and dipped her as their lips met in a
passionate kiss.
"Aren't they adorable?" An old woman said to her husband as they
passed. Motoki and Usagi looked up from their position. They smiled
at the elder couple.
"A lovely couple", Her husband agreed smiling kindly at them.
"Such a stunning girl and a very attractive young man", The lady said.
Motoki stood up straight and kissed the woman's hand. "What a charmer"
"I know", Usagi agreed as the couple walked away after waving good-bye.
The two sat down watching the bright sun make the lake glow like
ethereal jewel. She leaned against him and he kissed her neck.
"One day Usagi I'm gonna get you a ring as bright as the sun", He
promised and she snuggled closer to him smelling his spicy cologne.
"And that will just be the engagement ring"
"Are you planning on marrying me?", She asked coyly. Usagi looked into
her boyfriend's eyes, they shone with love. Did
she really know what love is? She was young, a mere nineteen but
gazing at him somehow Usagi knew it was love or something more.
"I'm planning to spend the rest of my life with you", He answered.
"I love you", She said hoarsely trying to hold back the emotions
that stirred in her.
"Thank you for loving me", Motoki responded and held her tighter.
"I don't just love you I ADORE you"
**********************************************************************
"So what did you call me over here for?", Mamoru asked nonchalantly
though he was dying to know what his friend was up to. Sitting on
the couch Mamoru surveyed his friend's living room. It was fairly
large with a comfortable couch and loveseat. A television and VCR
was also in the room. On top of the TV was picture of him and Usagi.
Mamoru thought of his best friend's girlfriend. She was pretty cute,
in fact she was gorgeous. With her long legs and dazzling smile.
But well it seemed as if she always had something stuck up her ass.
Motoki came out of his room and placed a velvet box on his coffee table.
"I wanted to show you this" Opening the box, he revealed a thin, gold
band with a HUGE diamond on it. It shone like the sun. Actually more
like a THOUSAND suns. "What do you think?"
"It's a beaut", He commented. It was radiant to be more accurate."This
must have cost you a fortune"
"It's all worth it", Motoki answered and the told his friend the big
news."I'm gonna ask Usagi to marry me"
"What?!", Mamoru said."You've got to be kidding. Have you even thought
about this? It's a big commitment." Why was he so edgy? He should've
been happy for Motoki instead he felt a sort ache inside his chest.
"I'm sure of this Mamoru. I love her", Motoki said sincerely."I'm
gonna asked her tommorrow"
"Congratulations man" Mamoru patted his friend on the back. Somehow
it seemed that he wasn't as happy as he should be. In fact it was
kind of a feeling of sadness...
*******************************************************************
The evening was warm and Usagi noticed that her boyfriend was getting
sick. His skin was boiling hot and his face was an ashen gray.
"Honey, maybe we should go home", She suggested to him but he refused.
"No, it's alright" Motoki shook his head and held on to her tighter.
"I'm just feeling a little tired. The arcade was packed."
"You're running a fever, I can tell", Usagi voiced. It was getting dark
in the streets of Tokyo and she was hoping that her boyfriend would
give in to her request to go home. Glancing at him she saw that he was
rubbing the side of his head.
"Usa, I'll be okay" A shot of dizziness hit him and somehow he felt
himself falling forward. Motoki heard his girlfriend's panicked yell.
"Sweetie, are you alright?", She said and caught before he fell to the
ground. Laying his head on her lap she wiped the sweat on his forehead.
Tears began to sting her eyes.
She would just her car and get him to a hospital. She got him up and held
him to keep him from falling. The streets were empty so no one was there
to help. Biting her lip to keep from crying in fear and frustration. Her
car which was a metallic silver was parked on the sideway thankfully.
Good thing they had decided to go out to dinner using her small car.
Unlocking the door she placed her boyfriend gently into the seat and
fasten his seatbelt. She jumped into her own seat in a flash. Motoki
was coming to, she heard him groan and looked at him.
"Usa, I'm so dizzy. What's wrong?", He asked and Usagi caressed his cheek.
"I don't know", She said solemnly looking at his sickly face. "Just rest
baby" Usagi turned back to the front so that he wouldn't see the tears
fall from her face.
***********************************************************************
Usagi watched from a thick glass window as Motoki got his X-rays. The
doctor said that the scan would give them an idea of what was going on.
She had to go find a phone. Walking around the corner she saw an unused
payphone. Her mind still brimmed with the picture of her lover's pale
face. Small droplets fell from her face and she found her change purse.
She didn't realize that her hand was shaking furiously. Suddenly the
coins fell in the ground in loud clinking sounds. The tears began to
blur her vision and as people passed by they looked at the girl in
sympathy but no one helped.
"Shit", She said under breath. Now was not the time to begin wailing.
Picking up the correct change she dropped it in a the slot and pick
up the reciever. It occurred to her quickly that she couldn't remember
the phone number to Motoki's parents. "Oh God, what kind of girlfriend
am I?!" The tears began to fall faster. Quickly she dialed the first
number that popped into her head.
"Hello", Mamoru said from the reciever. Who would call him at ten o'
clock?
"Mamoru, it's me Usagi. Motoki's in the hospital" With that she burst
into tears.
