Battle Angel

Story

The story I thought was original. Never before have I seen a cyber punk anime with that type of story line. The relationships between the characters are well done, especially for such a short anime. The scenery and story are well established in the beginning, and you learn more about it as the anime continues. Also how the characters develop in the anime is really good too. You start to care about a couple of the characters while you hate others. Fairly hard to do in about an hour.

Animation

The animation was great. I loved the quality of animation. The level of animation, and effects were great. I've seen few better. The final battle with the cyborg at the end of part one is a good example of the quality of animation.

Sound

The sound quality was also really good. The different characters had the right voices for what they looked like. They were also in sync with the mouths, which is sometimes a problem with many animes out there.

Adult Content

There is a sex scene, which lasts for a few seconds. And there is also nudity along with it. It's brief and really revealing. It does show to what lengths and what people will do help get what they want though. The other part is that a couple scenes are fairly graphic in terms of death. A couple guys get their heads cut off, and a dog dies in a gross way. Which that too helps fuel the anger of the main character. For all the adult content it helps drive the story more, it isn’t gratuitous and without reason. But it is still there. So, be careful.

Overall

Overall I really like this anime. Cyber punk stories are some of my favorites, but even looking at without any bias it is a good anime. I recommend it but not to anyone who can’t handle the above said adult content. It isn’t for kids.
