Ninja Scroll was something I should have checked more into seeing before I saw it. Yikes. Usually I am able to check with some people who know more about Anime in general and specific more than I do. This is once I wish I had been able to talk to them.

Ninja Scroll is basically a story about a ninja for hire who is tricked into going on some kind of mission to do stop the Shogun of the Dark. The adult content was numerous, and gross to be perfectly honest. Why did I watch all of it? So I could write this review, in order to warn any others before they watched it.

All adult content aside, I really didn’t think the story was al that great. Granted, I am more into Sci-fi stories and such, but there was little to be imagined. There were one or two things that made it a little interesting. Like the main bad guy masqueraded as the leader of another clan. Nothing really to get excited about. I also felt that some of the action was cheesy. Like the main guy got beat up really bad at the end, yet he walked away no problem after it was all over. Plus his arm got broken and it seemed not to effect him to much. If he had some sort of mystical powers, it wasn't made clear in the movie. So again, story wise, nothing that great.

The animation was also not very good. If you were to compare it to others that came out around the same time, sure, I guess it was good then, but I feel it could have been lots better. Chins, that thing below your bottom lip, hardly ever moved when people were talking. Even in close ups. Some of the effects of the bad guy ninjas jumping from roof to roof was cool looking, but it lasted for a couple seconds.

Over all, I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. If you are Christian, I would say don’t watch it. It would be compromising to the high moral standard we are called to have. While cartoon nudity doesn’t bother me very much, because I have been studying the human body for many years, I have been drawing since I was in the eighth grade, and I have had to study in order to be able to draw people correctly and proportionately. So, drawn nudity doesn't bother me, nor does it cause me to sin. However, sex does. In any media. So, I hope that you'll take this, and decide not to watch it.
