COUNTING LESSON ONE
Now it is time to begin the first lesson in counting in Japanese.
Click on the Hiragana to hear one version of how to say the number.
Click on the Kanji version to hear the other version number said.
Note, that the Kanji can be said any of the ways possible, while the hiragana obviously is only said the way it is spelled.
Notice that there are two ways to pronounce most of these numbers, except in the case of 4, 7, and 9, for which there are three
ways to say these numbers. Usually used are the Hiragana version (first one listed in case of 4, 7, and 9). Later, when
we are on the counting classifiers section, we will learn one place where the version pronounced through the kanji is used.
