Remembering what his father had said about newtypes, Char 
also tried to harness the power of a newtype called Lahla Sun.  
Although his motives were unclear at this stage, it was quite 
clear that Char had other intentions other than killing the 
Zabis. However, his plan with newtypes was put to a halt when 
Amuro Rey, another newtype, killed Lahla Sun unintentionally.

After the Battle of A Bao A Qu, Char went into hiding for a 
few years only to surface again with the anti-oppression group 
called AEUG. During his stay with AEUG, he used the name Quattro 
Bajina.

Char fought against the Titans, a corrupted faction of the 
Federation that suppresses spacenoids.  As AEUG's ace pilot, Char 
is reunited with long time rival Amuro Rey.  The two newtypes 
even fought on the same side for a while despite their 
differences over Lahla Sun's death.
