From the moment Remy Lebeau was born, he was cast away. After the doctors at the hospital saw his unique red eyes, just like an open flame, they thought the worst. Remy was then stolen from the hospital and taken under the care of someone who is only known as the Antiquiary. After a short while his original kidnapper, Jean-luc LeBeau, stole him again. This time Remy was cast inside the Theive's Guild, then given to local orphange where he basically grew up on his own.
Life was hard here, many didn't make it out either alive or 'mentally well'. Somehow though, Remy managed by eating from trash cans or picking up what he could off the streets. After a bit he noticed his fellow ruffins, young memebers of the Theive's Guild, picking the pockets of the citizens of New Orleans. Remy got a brillant idea that this was what he neeed to do to survive. After many failures and few successes, he started the get the hang of it.
In a flash of fate, Remy met up with Jean-luc LeBeau once again. Unknowing, Remy tried to pick the pocket of the head of the Theives Guild. Jean-luc decided that he should take Remy in under his wing, and adopted him. Jean-luc taught him the ways of their guild - just as their rivals [assassins] - Being almost like a 'teacher's pet' with Jean-luc, Remy didn't make friends well with any of the other young boys. Then, Remy met Bella Donna.
Heres the basic love story for you...kind of reminds me of Romeo and Juliet. Bella Donna's father was the head of the Assassin's Guild. Their friendship was forbidden, but the children kept it up. When their parents finally found out it was already too late. The couple went from being childhood friends to teen sweethearts as they fell in love.
When Remy reached the age of seventeen it was time to 'become a man' and take the right of passage test. This was to prove that Remy was capable to keep his rightful place in the Theive's Guild. Called the Tract of Passage, Remy had to successfully steal the L'Etroile du Tricherie or The Cheating Star. Yikes theres a mouthful for ya.
With Henri [his 'brother'] by his side as his sponsor, the two snuck down Geneviere Darceneaux, the daugther to a jewel theif and holder of the precious gem. The girl quickly fell in love with Remy [aren't we all?] and gave him the gem. Before making his escape though, Remy encountered Sabretooth who was also trying to steal the jewel.
Sabretooth captured both Geneviere and Henri and hung them both from one of the spires of Norte Dame. [now this is getting pimp!] Remy knew that he could only save one, so in a moment of chance Remy saved Henri - letting Geneviere fall to her death. [bet she doesn't love him anymore! haha!] Sabretooth got away with the gem...
Meanwhile, back at home, a leader in the Assassin's Guild was trying to make peace between the clans. Bella Donna and Remy were married as part of this. Bad news though, Bella Donna's insane brother Julien wanted nothing to do with this happy period. He challenged Remy to a duel in which Remy won, and killed Julien. Even though he didn't mean to let that happen, Remy was charged for it and cast out of the guild in order to save the peace.
Remy traveled across the seas through Europe and Asia. I guess it was around here that he met up with Candra, but who really knows for sure. Several years later [around 20] he met up with Storm who took him to Professor X, and the rest is history.
