I am surprised that Tai Chian or something that sounds like that at a corner of a row of town shops on the same main street as the market, should be in this list. It was and I am told is still a most popular coffee shop and eating plces in Taiping. It is famous for its poh piah, lam mee, and the coffee was the good traditional Malayan coffee. Being also in the middle of the town, it was a rendezvous dating and eating place. In the sixties, dating consisted of eating and cycling only, not even holding of hands!
