Ah, Mr. Bond, you have a nasty way of surviving. Pierce Brosnan is back and at his best as Bond though the plot here is not quite as good as that of GoldenEye but better than Tomorrow Never Dies, which was only saved by the theme song and Michelle Yeoh. This time there is a secret villain along with the main one, Renard who seems intriguing at first but gets precious little screen time. Sophie Marceau's acting makes up for the atrocious performance by Denise Richards. Not much to say here. It follows the formula well, Apted does a good job but it's nothing spectacular. Good to see John Cleese, and R.I.P. Desmond Askew. ***
