Lillie A's Concert Experience

It was Feb.12, 1998. I was going to see OLP at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ont. with my best friend Genevieve (which, for the record is pronounced Jon-vee-ev, not Jen-i-veev. She gets real mad when people call her that) and two of my other friends, Mandy and Carla. Well, let me tell you it was FREEZING that night, but we arrived almost an hour and a half early anyway. We thought that by going that early might help us avoid the huge crowd. Yeah right. The line was all the way around the block! When we finally got in, we had to go through all these security guards who were searching people for drugs and what not. All my friends had their cameras confiscated, except for me. Why you ask? I had the brilliant idea of sticking mine down my underwear. (Uncomfortable yes, but for a die-hard fan such as myself, totally worth it.) Then we had to wait god only knows how long for BTK to finish. They are very bad, and that's all I have to say about them. And then, BTK left and the arena went black. The crowd roared as a screen lit up on the left side of the stage and we watched as an old man got ready for his trapeze act. Finally the lights came on and I remember that moment exactly because Genevieve grabbed my hand and started to cry. The very sight of Raine brought this girl to tears. The band opened with Automatic Flowers to a screaming audience. Near the end of the show, the band had just started to play Carnival (I think that was it) when Raine suddenly turned around and told the band to stop. The whole arena went completely silent trying to find out what was going on. Raine pointed to a guy in the third row. Apparently, this guy had been giving him the finger (why I don't know). "You" he said. "Why the hell did you come to our concert if didn't like us?" The audience remained quiet as the guy yelled something back to him. Raine was pretty pissed. He called the guy up to the stage, and he was going to go too, but the security guard wouldn't let him. He yelled something at Raine again and Raine just stood the for a second and then very calmly said "You know what? F*** you." I swear to God, I have never heard an audience go so crazy at a concert in my life. I heard one woman scream "Raine, I want to bare your children." It was the best concert I've ever been to in my life.
