"Mamma Said"

~Starts out, Jonny is walking along the side of a long bridge towards the
center of a large city. Cars rush by brushing a stinging wind across his
cheek. Alone, Jonny sings~

Jonny sings: It was an early summer day,
But it seems like just yesterday
When mama looked right in my face,
And told me she was goin' away
~Jonny diggs his hands down deeper into his pockets~
If I could count all the tears that I cried,
I'd be empty and lost inside
So I'll try to find a smile,
~Jonny looks down towards the pavement~
And hold my head up high
~Jonny looks back up~
Mama said don't cry,
I'm goin' away up high
~Jonny pulls a picture of Rachel out of his pocket~
Don't be afraid
Be strong
Just keep holding on

Mama said don't cry
~he turns the picture over and over in his hands~
Dry all the tears from your eyes
Don't be afraid 
Be strong
Just keep holding on

So young, but yet so wise

So much beauty was in her eyes
::Jonny wipes a tear away from his eye~

No one could try to explain
Just why she had to face the pain
::fades to image of a much younger Jonny standing beside Benton and a doctor~
But when the day comes and hits your time
Only God knows the reason why

She was my angel, my light, my friend
::fades to Rachel holding Jonny on her lap in the Hospital::
But one day we'll be togther again
~Jonny quickly glances upwards~
But now that I know 
That I know
She has gone away

There were days that I wish I could run away
::fades to image of Jonny yelling at his dad s Benton catches him sneaking
outside~
And if there would be another summer day
When I could see my mama's face again

Cause mamma said,
Don't cry
~Jonny places the picture back into his pocket~
Dry all the tears from your eyes
Don't be afraid 
Be strong
Just keep holding on
~Jonny grasps onto the railing on the side of the bridge~
Cause mama said

Dry all the tears from your eyes

~his cheeks start to redden~
And on, and on, and on, and on, and on

Run away Run away Run away
Summer day Summer day Summer day

Will see my mama's face again
