Mmm... This took quite some time, but you can blame school for that.
Anyway, here is the next chapter of Reality. It is a little small, but
I'll take care of that in the next chapter. Feedback, as always, is
highly encouraged...
Disclaimer: I don't own all of these characters! HB owns Jonny
and the rest of the cast from JQ:TRA. I'm not
making any money at all with this, but I'm having
fun!

Last time on "Reality":
And then he knew this was something he should be do alone.
He had to face this by himself... He would talk with his father
first thing in the morning. And even if he didn't agree, he would
do so anyway.
Tomorrow he would go to Colombia and make sense out of this
mess.

He was in big trouble. Only a miracle would stop his father
from disinheriting him now.
Of course, Jonny hadn't expected less. But he had to know what
was happening, or he couldn't live with himself.
Right now he was somewhere above Panama, in a comercial flight
whose final stop was Bogota, Colombia. He had used his savings to buy
the ticket. And fortunately, all his documentation was in order.
When his father arrived home, Jonny told him everything about
his dreams and the red-haired girl. His father had looked at him with
a puzzled expression on his face, as if deciding if he should believe
his son or send him to the nearest psychologist. And then Jonny had
explained him what he was tring to do.
Go to Colombia to look for Jessica Bannon.
And he had been forbidden from going out of the house.
Fine then. Driven by some strange force Jonny couldn't
understand, he left the Compound that night. The morning of the next
day he was already on the airport, with one ticket to Colombia on
his hand.
Of course, after this trip his father would kill him, at the
very least. But Jonny knew, somehow, that he was doing the right thing.
He fell asleep on the plane and dreamed once again with the
red-haired girl...
Jessica Bannon wasn't in Bogota's phonebook, but Jonny found
an entry for "Estella Velazquez de Bannon". The name rang a bell
inside Jonny's head. He quickly dialed the phone number.
The phone rang for a while before a female voice answered on
the other side. "Bueno?"
"Disculpe, habla usted Ingles?" Jonny asked, not trusting his
spanish too much.
"Yeah, a little." the woman replied for Jonny's relief. "Who
is this?"
"My name is Jonathan Quest, ma'am. I'm looking for Ms. Estella
Bannon."
A moment went by before the woman replied. "What are you
looking her for?"
"I'm... an old friend of the family."
Silence.
"I'll ask only once," the woman said. "Who are you?"
Jonny sighed. "My name is Jonathan Quest."
"I don't know who you are, Mr. Quest. So you have ten seconds
to give me a good reason why I shouldn't hang up right now."
"Are you Mrs. Bannon?"
"Seven seconds."
"No, wait! I'm looking for Jessica Bannon!"
Once again, the silence came back. It lasted so long Jonny
wondered if the woman was still on the phone.
"Is this a joke?"
The woman's reply took Jonny for surprise.
"No, of course not." the boy said.
"Listen, I don't know who you are or what do you want, but
you have a rather sick sense of humor."
Then he heard a faint click as the woman hanged up.
Well, then he had only one choice left.
Jessie raised her sight from the book she was reading to see
her mother snatching her purse from the table.
"Going anywhere?" Jessie asked.
"Yeah, I just got a call from your father. It looks like he
got a flat tire. I'll just pick him up and be right back, OK?"
"Take care mom."
"Excuse me. do you know where this address is?" Jonny asked
to the cab driver as he pointed to the address printed in the page
he had ripped from the phonebook.
"Mmmm... It is far from town, kid. Almost an hour from here."
"Good. Take me there."
Jessie went back to her book. It had been a very quiet day.
Enrique was at his grandmother's house, and he had apologized for
breaking their date this afternoon. She had been angry at him, but only
for a little while. She knew he would compensate her for this little
problem, and besides it wasn't as if he had gone out with his friends
or something. One of the things she loved about Enrique was his
dedication to his family.
'I wouldn't mind if we spent more time together, though.'
She chuckled. The only way they could spend more time together
would be living under the same roof... She wondered how her father
would react to that. She, living in a house with a hormone charged
teenager...
But somehow, the idea didn't sound so weird. It almost sounded
natural, as if that was the way it should be...
"Wait for me here." Jonny told to the cab driver as he walked
to the entrance of the Velazques' property. Only a small fence
separated the Velazques ranch from the main road, a fence Jonny quickly
cleared.
A house could be seen at a distance. Jonny ran toward her.
Jessie started to feel drowsy. The book suddenly wasn't as
interesting at before...
The door in the house opened as soon as Jonny knocked the door.
A woman with bright red hair and deep green eyes appeared.... with a
shotgun in her hand.
Jessie's eyes started to close...
"Who are you?" she asked.
"Jonathan Quest." he replied with a calm voice. "And you are
Estella Bannon, I suppose."
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm looking for Jessica Bannon."
She shook her head. "I don't know why you are doing this,
young man. You want to see her? I'll take you to her. This way."
she said, making a motion with her head. "But don't do any sudden
movements. This baby has the tendency to fire itself."
Jessie finally fell asleep. The book dropped to the floor.
"Here she is." Estella announced.
Then Jonny saw something he would never forget.
A big tombstone was in the house's backyard. Two names were
on it. One read "Race Bannon". The other name was "Jessica Bannon".
Jonny dropped to his knees. Reality had hit him.
He screamed as hard as his lungs would allow him.
"Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!.........."
A scream waked her up.
A familiar voice...
A voice she had heard before... In her dreams. "Jonny?"
"It can't be, it can't be..." he said as his tears fell to
the grass beneath him.
"The bomb killed them both." the woman explained. "I decided
to bury them here... They have been dead for almost two years."
"It can't be..."
She ran to the kitchen. No one was there. She ran to the studio
and looked to the backyard. No one was there, either...
Where had the scream come from, then? Had she dreamed it?
Jonny forced himself to think. So everybody had been right
all along. But how could this be happening? How could the death of
someone he had never known hurt so much?
A voice called for him. "Jonny..."
A very familiar voice.
He turned around to face the boy who had called his name.
It was Fred.
"I've come to take you home."
To be continued!
