    The Highlander Movie!

Excited to see the new Highlander movie? Sure, we all are. It's not exactly Phantom Menace, but devoted fans of the series are whipping themselves into a frenzy over the silver screen debut of Duncan MacLeod.

Rumors are rampant about the script and shooting schedule of the Highlander movie. Here is what we claim to know so far:

  • It is the fourth Highlander feature film and will thus be generally known as "Highlander IV."

  • The subtitle (of the movie, which will be filmed in English, genius) has been changed from "The Search for Connor" to "World Without End." This may continue to change repeatedly before the film is finally released. For those of you keen on Usenet and other on-line mediums, the new movie is referred to as WWE.

  • Methos will have a significant role in the feature film.

  • Connor may pull a Qui-Gon Jinn (if you know what I mean), thereby demanding that any films made after this one will require Christopher Lambert to appear only in flashbacks or as a non-corporeal entity of pure thought or energy.

  • Gregory Widen, who I hope you will recognize as the creator of the Highlander universe, will presumably direct the film. Widen has, in the past, stated that his original vision for the first Highlander film was darker (in other words, more gross than safety pins through the neck and grimmer than hunting through the NY Hall of Records). Perhaps the Highlander film will benefit from being helmed by the visionary who built the ship.
  • The greatest man who ever lived is of course, Harry from Ain't It Cool News. He is a font of information about the movie.  Here is a verbose copy of what he writes:

More on HIGHLANDER: WORLD WITHOUT END

Hey folks, Harry here with a report from the headless Kurgan to fill us in a bit on what's gonna be happening on the next Highlander movie. It's funny... Out on my last L.A. trip the only movie I saw in my Hotel room was HIGHLANDER. It's a film that my memory generally remembers as not being good... But damn if I didn't enjoy the heck out of it. Perhaps it's all the other poison that's been put out in the HIGHLANDER packaging. A bit of a Pavlovian response. Hopefully this one will be... Cool.

I am told that some of this will be changed, but this is the crux:

Connor and Duncan join forces to battle a very powerful and ancient immortal who has tricked a group of new immortals into believing that he is the divine power behind their resurrections. They will do ANYTHING for him. Connor discovers a big secret that Duncan has been keeping from him which strains their relationship. In the end, one of them must make a huge sacrifice. A woman immortal who is part of the evil immortal's group discovers her true origins and is forced to decide who's side she is really on.

There are more details and developments, but I don't want to spoil it completely!!! Suffice it to say that alot of characters from the television series show up and are involved in the story.

This leads me to personally believe that the movie will be a two hour rehash of the episode "Little Tin God," in which Duncan faces an Immortal who was once believed (and then believed himself) to be a God by a South American tribe and who uses the "gift" of resurrection to gain followers to kill for him. I am not saying that this will be connected to the episode, or will feature any of the same characters or sequences. I am only saying that the plots are familiar.

These are only rumors, and you didn't hear them from me.

This page could exist without the friendship, support, and big fat gooey tidbits of info provided by several people. I regret that I can only thank a few of them:

m0nk, who will see it with me when and if it premieres whether he likes it or not
