Transformers: The Movie

Prime Transformers: The Movie is not technicaly Anime due to the fact that it was made for release in American theaters, but it is a movie that can not be denied by any Anime fans. If you look at the credits it has a lot of japaneese names(Including the Watanabe name present in 99.5% of all other Anime). So I list it because I like it, it is very good and I see other sites that include this to!

The story behind Transformers: The Movie is that their planet "Cybertron" was running out of energon(The source of their power) so the herioc Autobots leave to find resurces elsewhere but their enimies, the evil Decepticons noticed their Arc(Their ship) leaving and went after them. Eventually they get into a battle in deep space, but both ships get cought in earths gravity and crash on a prehistoric Earth.

They were there dormant for thousands of years, until an eruption from the volcano from where the Autobot ship is buried. This jolts the ships computer back online. In order to repair the robots it scans earth's vehicles and usea their design to make the repairs. They wake up able to transform from cars, trucks, planes, and other earth vehicles. Now they can restart their mission to help their planet.

The movie starts many years, and wars later.

After sending a shuttle to earth the Decpitcons attack and kill all inside(Some of our favorate transformers get killed to). They do this rather easially concidering the Autobots in the ship were low on energon. Now they are on their way to earth base to launch a surprise attack. This starts a battle that sets the whole movie in motion but little do they know a much bigger threat is on the way.

I loved the Transformers TV show ever since it came on and it was one of the best animated series ever in the USA. Not to mension that the Transformers had the best line of high quality toys ever although the recent ones suck(They were cast in metal back then not cheap plastic). You just can not go wrong with giant robots. There is a new series called Beast Wars, it is ok but not as good as the original, but being 100% computer rendered I can't help to look at it in awe of the graphics and animation.

The movie has excellent animation and is drawn well except for an instance where prime and megatron are fighting, there is a notable poorly drawn part, but it doesn't detract from the movie. The storyline is good and is classic Transformers with plenty of battles to keep you watching. I love the music and I own the CD, the music is very good and I would recommed picking it up. Transformers is very entertaning and will be liked by many, probally more guys then girls but keep an open mind and watch. This is a good example of American animation, If you want more you can Try Batman-Mask of The Phantasm.
