This is to thank everyone who has written to Bonnie Hammer at USA Sci-Fi Channel and to those who haven't written - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
I called Ms. Hammer's office and hopefully when Mark is here in New Jersey she going to try to see him. This is a big accomlishment for me to get her to contact him.
I was also interviewed by the Newark Star Ledger when I called to find out if anyone is going to cover this convention. The entertainment editor gave me to a reporter who interviewed me about Mark, Titanic and Swamp Thing. Hopefully there will be a blurb in the paper not only about the convention, but about Mark too.
The New Jersey News station is also sending a reporter to the convention to interview Mark AND me together. I'm a little nervous about this, but this may also generate more interest in Mark and get his name in the paper.
It seems he is now going to try to make the convention. Its still "iffy" but at this time it looks ok. I will keep you all posted about this.
I need input from all of you. I have decided to pull out all the stops. I called a friend who is a producer and is currently working in Japan on a series and told her about what is going on here. Her first reaction was what I was doing was "OK", but, more has to be done and done now while most everyone is in the "lets do it' mode.
She suggested that I get in contact with the directors of Original Programming at TNT, Lifetime, History Channel and any other network that does original programming, including the Big Three networks (CBS, ABC and NBC). Its very important that we get the mail to the right people and that they know there is a fan base out there for Mark.
If you are interested in helping out with this, I'll post the addresses to all of you. Please let me know if you want to write to these people. I know we all want Mark back at the reins at Swampy, but in the meantime he still has to eat and pay the bills and it would also be nice to see him in some other original programming. And as I previously said, we know and Mark knows himself, the chances of the series being revived are slim, but there is still hope.
I'm gathering the addresses we will need and will post them tomorrow to who ever wants them. Our other "group" that wrote to Bonnie Hammer really came through and her secretary said that Ms. Hammer received in excess of 300 letters. Thats almost ALL of my friends group.
We are also getting help from England and Germany. Fran's mom is getting people she knows (100 or more) to write from England and Gabi Seidl, the president of Mark's German fan club, is getting her own group to write and friends of their friends (200 plus). Its important that this mail go out now since the convention is so close. It will help a lot.
Waiting to hear from all of you!
Warm regards,
the Swamp Lady
