(Best?)Even though she appears in just three episodes, Lt. Pike is a woman with a strong sense of self. (I forget whether she was of equal rank with Harm--although that was before he was
promoted to Lt. Cdr.--but she clearly viewed herself as an equal, regardless of what the Navy said about it.) She is elegant and intelligent. Also, when they are reunited in Brig Break, there is powerful chemistry. (And since you asked for my favorite scene, here it is:) She complains about the cold in Washington State, where she's been transferred, and says something about needing mittens--and Harm says, "I'd like to see you in *nothing but* your mittens!" Oh, my goodness! And the look she gave him in return about melted my TV! Unfortunately, just then was when the escape attempt occurred and the characters' attention was directed elsewhere. And I was disappointed to learn, in Aries, that she had gotten involved with someone else. Not that she didn't deserve a love life, but that guy was nothing like Harm (and he--the other guy--knew it, which was why he was so nasty in his comments about her former partner)! At the end of the episode, when she and Harm were going on vacation but said they'd be in separate rooms, I kept hoping they'd change their minds. So the chemistry was there it's just that she wasn't on the show long enough to really develop it. A strong runner-up to Meg for a whole season's worth of sustained sexual tension, and a hopeful honorable mention to Mac, who--despite a rotten childhood--at least knows a good man when she sees one. I'm watching this one carefully.
