Kieran Prendiville Barry, an old friend of Vincent's arrives in Ballykissangel with his girlfriend Lyn. Barry and Lyn want to get married and Vincent has agreed to conduct the service. When Vincent asks for Barry's marriage license, Barry says he left it at home. Vincent tries to persuade Father Mac to let the marriage take place but he refuses. Vincent suggests to Barry that they just phone his parish priest but Barry's reaction tells Vincent that there wasn't a license in the first place. It turns out that Barry has been married before and therefore can't be married again in the eyes of the church. Barry gets angry with Vincent when he refuses to marry him. Dooley has leased some land and a consortium want to build on it. While Liam and Donal are clearing the land they discuss what they are going to do with the money they retrieved from Dooley in episode 5. Liam suggests investing in Avril's horse, The Cat, as part of a syndicate. Dooley tells them to get back on with their work. Brendan arrives with some schoolchildren while Liam and Donal are trying to move one specific rock. He tells Dooley that it's a mass rock and that he has to leave it where it is. Dooley is determined to move the rock. Doc Ryan is sceptical when he hears that a faith healer called Consuela Dunphy is arriving in Wicklow. He tells Frankie that he is suspicious about Consuela's supposed healing powers. Frankie agrees to check her out and goes to one of the shows with Vincent. Near the end of the show Vincent is surprised to see Lyn getting onto the stage where Consuela rubs her stomach. Afterwards Lyn confronts Vincent about his treatment of Barry and tells him that they have been trying to start a family without any success for some time. Vincent goes to Avnl for some advice about marrying Barry and Lyn and she suggests that he doesn't want to upset Mac. This comment touches one of Vincent's nerves and he goes to ask Mac a second time. Mac's reaction is the same: he forbids Vincent to marry them. Lyn feels ill and goes to see Doc Ryan. She is shocked when he tells her that she's been pregnant for a week or so. Father Mac also hears about Consuela and decides to see her for himself. He gets up on stage and questions her powers of healing. She hypnotises him so that his arthritic limp disappears when he leaves the stage. Father Mac is relieved when the pain returns because he does not want to be an example of Consuela's success. Vincent eventually decides to marry Barry and Lyn. Dooley decides to leave the mass rock where it is and this is where Vincent conducts the marriage ceremony.
