SYNOPSIS

Sock Miller was a government naturalist who had been elected to the city council - a job he took with great seriousness. His interest in helping the community occasionally got him in trouble with Mayor Peoples. The problems were compounded by the fact that the Mayor's daughter, Mandy, was Sock's girlfriend.

Making observations to only the audience - no one in the cast was able to hear her - was Cleo, Sock's pet basset hound. At the end of the 1956-57 season, Sock and Mandy were secretly married. They finally told everyone early in the 1957-58 season, following Sock's graduation from law school. He got a job selling homes in the neighboring community of Barkerville, for the developer Mr. Barker, and he and Mandy were given one of the homes to live in. Moving in with them was Sock's freeloading friend Rollo. After the move, neither the Mayor nor Sock's Aunt Gus were seen regularly.
