SYNOPSIS
The tiny Mediterranean country of Glendora was about to be absorbed by neighboring Frane when aging King Charles passed away. If, that is, he had no royal successors. So the King's advisor, Sir Edward, studied the family tree and discovered four Americans, each of whom was distantly related to His Majesty and could rightfully claim the throne - if they could pass a 13th-century test of skill and worthiness. Thus began The Quest, in which four ordinary Americans each tried to prove himself and inherit a beautiful seaside country.
The cast included: Dan, a handsome international sports photographer, and a magnet for beautiful women; Art, a gruff, down-to-earth retired cop from Wilko, Kansas; Cody, a slick, black con man and hustler with a heart of gold and Carrie, a good-looking New York department store buyer.
Sir Edward gave them their assignments each week, usually in cryptic verse and off they went, sometimes racing, sometimes helping each other as well as the people they met. The Quest, you see, was not only a race but a test of valor and good deeds. Trying to foil them was the exiled and villainous Count Dardinay, who stood to regain his lands only if none of them won and the country did become part of France.
