This relationship is the one thing which gets me
to watch the show. Dawson and Joey are perhaps the quintessential example
of a couple of people who are more perfect for one another than anything
else in the world but still aren't together. The most interesting thing
about their relationship is how individual they are. Each has a separate
personality and strong opinions, but can still find a common ground to
interact with one another. The ease and honesty in which they communicate
shows how deep their relationship is and how much they trust one another.
I'll admit that my favorite line from the show (and one of the most infamous
ones overall) was when Joey asked Dawson how often he "walked his dog".
(If you don't get it, don't worry about it...;) ) She did it mainly to
prove to him how their relationship had changed and how they couldn't share
everything with eachother anymore. They were growing apart because they
were growing up. He didn't say anything, and so she climbed out his window
and went to the dock (yeah, no one uses doors and everyone has boats) Then,
as she prepared to leave he leaned out his window and screamed after her
"In the morning, before school." It was really one of the most brilliant
moments in the show because it was utterly spontanous and the look on her
face as she burst out laughing was SO incredible. The characters (as well
as the actors who play them) have incredible chemistry.
Then what's the problem, you ask? Where did this utopia go wrong? Well,
aside from the fact that Dawson, much like alot of guys is CLUELESS when
it comes to Joey's feelings, there's also the blond "bombshell" Jen.
I put bombshell in quotations because I just don't see it. Jen is
NOWHERE near as cute as Joey and has about half the personality. Nevertheless,
she's Dawson's girlfriend. And, in the words of Willow, he's dating a skanky
ho. Well...was dating. Currently "la skankita" is trying to hustle
Dawson back from Joey as a part of a very unexpected truly AWESOME reversal
of the classic love triangle. NOW Dawson wants Joey who is holding off
more and Jen wants Dawson. In the season finale, (those of you who missed
it, kick yourself now..), our lovable couple KISSED!!! As in, sucked face,
as in, got jiggy wit it!! (I was shrieking) For those of you who missed
this blessed and wondrous event, you can actually SEE
THE KISS in REALVIDEO (you'll need a realvideo player to view it, but
the player is free and easy to use). Just follow this link
and you'll be there. The site this clip is located at pretty much deserves
to be the Official Site in my book (thanks to Teri the goddess for
finding this site and pointing me in the right direction!) It's incredible.
For those of you who are unable to download or
view the clip, I snagged a pic of the scene from the exact same
site (definitely worth a check and a bookmark from you DC fans).
Anyway, the Pacey thing is still up in the air but as far as I'm concerned...I
honestly think they'd be cute toghether. Pacey's definitely The Man in
my book. He's cute, exceedingly funny and not clueless.
Rare qualties in those humans with the cursed Y chromosomes (sorry
boys, that all girls' high school thing comes back once in a while... ;)
)
Oh, here's a TERRIFIC and really funny site I found (which y'all should
go visit, like NOW).Before I tell you about it...I just wanted to say that
I have nothing against Michelle Williams the actress, just Jen the character
okay? Cool, the name of the site is I
HATE JEN and I just found it and it's awesome LOL.
