Authors note: Hello, my name is Michael Gammell/Emerald the Hedgehog. I left
something very important out in my last Author note. This fan fic is
(obviously) set in the Archie Sonic verse. But since hardly any of the
actually story is in the Archie Mobius, even SatAM fans might like it.(Robert
Brown hosts it!) I really don’t like the Archie comics that much, but they
did introduce alot of good ideas, but hardly ever acted on those ideas. For
example, I think turning knothole into a kingdom was a good idea, as was the
introduction of zone portals. Another reason this story is set in the Archie
verse is because I know more about it than the SatAM verse. Lately, I’ve
learned very much about SatAM though, and have even seen all but two of the
SatAM episodes. Not to mention all the SatAM fan fiction I read. Anyways,
here is the revised chapter two.
Sonic:
Chronicles of another Dimension 2.0
Chapter 2
“Transportation into another Dimension”
---
Sonic passed through the portal in the grip of the Swat-bot, or rather,
the portal moved past Sonic. At least, that’s what it looked and felt like to
Sonic as he went through the blue, swirling, tunnel. The colors were so
bright and flashing that Sonic had to close his eyes, or else run the risk of
having a seizure. Suddenly, Sonic noticed that the vibrating noise he had
heard in the portal had stopped. Sonic opened his eyes cautiously.
And was met with the gaze of twelve of the same brand of Swat-bots that
had captured him. Before he could do anything, the robots surrounded him and
forced thick steel chains over his hands and legs. They weighed Sonic down
heavily, and he didn’t like the prospect of walking far in them.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have a choice as a Swat-bot approached him from
behind and pressed it’s circular blaster against the back of his head.
“Get moving, synthetic creature.” the Swat-bot growled at him in it’s
grating, metallic voice. Sonic had no choice but to comply, and soon found
himself walking off into the distance, as well as looking at the place where
he had been transported.
He was almost in the polar opposite of where he had been. Where the
green forest had previously stretched, a vast desert replaced it. Ahead,
Sonic could vaguely see the shape of some large structure. To the left and
right, Sonic could see nothing but desert. Sonic couldn’t look behind him,
for if he so much as turned his head he was afraid that these new, strange
Swat-bots would kill him.
A million questions came to Sonic’s mind. Where was he? Who created
these robots? Robotnick? What kind of tripped out zone portal was that?
Suddenly, Sonic’s thoughts were disturbed as he heard the sound of a hard
object, perhaps a rock, hitting one of the robots behind him. Two of the
robots in front of him turned around, aimed at a distant target, and shot
fluorescent beams behind Sonic. Sonic risked turning his head around for a
second, and saw that behind him was the remains of a forest, and out of it
were flying rocks that collided with some of the Swat-bots, hardly denting
their armor. The two Swat-bots that had been in front of Sonic were marching
towards the forest, shooting their lasers into the woods. Before he could see
the outcome of the battle, he was hit across the head by the Swat-bot behind
him. Apparently, his pace had faltered while watching the battle, and the
Swat-bot felt the need to pursued him to move faster.
The next two hours passed with nothing else eventful happening, other
than seeing the vague outline of a city in the distance. The sun had set and
night was approaching; and he still didn’t know where the heck he was. He
tried memorizing landmarks in case he somehow escaped, but all he found was a
large rock in the middle of the desert.
“That’s a good one. A rock in the middle of a desert surrounded by,
guess what, more desert! That should be easy enough to find.” Sonic thought
silently to himself. The ringing that blow to the head had caused him had
just recently left, and he didn’t dare speak for fear of provoking the Swat-
bot to do so again.
Another hour passed. The city he had only partly seen before grew. It
look oddly familiar. Almost like...Robotropolis! The Robotropolis in his zone
had been destroyed long ago, when an Atom bomb had exploded under it’s
concealing bubble shield. But his zones’ Robotropolis seemed to be thriving.
“Funny. Even in another zone that creep is the source of my troubles.”
Sonic thought and shook his head. “Boy, I really wished I had stayed at the
Ring well.” His thoughts were interrupted, however, when a green laser beam
collided with the Swat-bot behind him. Before it went down, it fired a blast
out of it’s energy cannon at Sonic. Sonic quickly flung himself onto the
ground and watched the fluorescent beam pass safely over his head. The other
Swat-bots must have expected Sonic to be dead, and didn’t make a move to
inspect him. Instead, they turned their attention to the direction the beam
had come from. Immediately, two went down one after the other. Sonic stood up
in the confusion and looked for whoever was shooting at them.
Suddenly, a dark silhouette appeared, seeming to have come strait out
of the ground. With two quick blasts from his weapon, the chains that bound
Sonic’s hands and legs were vaporized. He rubbed his wrists and a sly grin
came across his face.
“Alright, bucket heads, time for round two!” Sonic said, and with that
he jumped in the air and planted a foot in one of the Swat-bot’s faces. It
went down, but it fired at Sonic while one the ground. He narrowly avoided
the blast, and was about to administer a Spin dash to it’s metallic face,
when a gruff voice rang out.
“Run! Get out of here! I‘ll take care of them.” it said. Sonic expected
it to have come from the figure he had seen before, and chose to take his
advice. He started to run in the opposite direction before his common sense
kicked in. He couldn’t leave that guy to fight all the Swat-bots by himself!
He raced back into the midst of the Swat-bots and knocked one down with a
spin dash. He turned around and saw what he thought to be a Mobian, it was
too dark to see his face or features.
“Darn it, didn’t I tell you to get out of here?” he yelled at Sonic as
he fired another blast from his laser pistol. Sonic curled into a spiny ball,
sped off, and toppled a Swat-bot that had been about to fire upon the
unidentified Mobian.
“Sorry, must not have heard.” Sonic said. There were still four
undamaged Swat-bots standing, plus the damaged one Sonic had kicked earlier,
and they were firing wildly at the two of them. Sonic spun a few quick
circles around the five bots, messing up their visual sensors.
“Now’s your chance! Shoot ‘em!” Sonic shouted to the Mobian. He replied
by exploding two of the five with his laser, then the weapon started
clicking. The figure hit his weapon a few times and yelled.
“Darn! I knew I should have recharged this dang this before I left!”
the Mobian with the weapon said. At this point the Swat-bots had regained
their marks and fire at them again. The both dodged the laser by falling to
the ground, but when Sonic hit, he went straight into a spin dash that sent
him through one of the robots and into the chest of another, knocking both of
them down. Meanwhile, the weakened bot was trying to hack the other Mobian
with his arm blade. Thinking quickly, he jammed his blaster into the open
circuits Sonic had exposed in it’s head. The electricity reacted with the
weapon and it exploded, sending the Swat-bots head into the air.
“Whew!” Sonic gasped Sonic. “That wasn’t so hard.” But then another
laser blast passed him, and his saw another squadron of robots coming from
the distance. The other Mobian gripped his arm, it felt feathery.
“Come on, follow me.” he said, he must have been a bird because his
beak clapped as he talked, and led Sonic to the right, dodging laser cannon
fire. Then he stopped and tapped five times on a spot of the ground near a
small plant, the first vegetation Sonic had seen since he got there. He
didn’t have time to puzzle that matter though, as the ground suddenly
disappeared and revealed a bright lit tunnel. The bird jumped into the tunnel
and Sonic followed his lead. Once inside, the hole closed up. Sonic stared up
at the ceiling catching his breath when the bird spoke.
“What were you thinking!? I told you to get out of there!” he said.
Only then did Sonic get to see his helper. He was clearly a duck. He had
yellow feathers and an orange bill, typical for his species. He also wore a
blue jacket and blue jeans. Sonic also noticed he was missing his right arm
and had a gun holster on his right side.
“Did you hear me?” the duck asked.
“Uh, yeah. I heard you.” Sonic said, trying not to stare at his arm
stump.
“Then answer the stinkin’ question!” the duck spoke again. At this
point, Sonic decided he didn’t like the ducks attitude.
“What was I thinking? I was thinking about how that little ugly
duckling was gonna find his way home while being overpowered by bots” Sonic
said.
“And I was wondering how that little baby hedgehog got captured while
at the nursery!” the duck shot back. “Yeah, great retort, Quacky the one
armed wonder.” Sonic said, crossing his arms. Suddenly, underneath his
feathers, the ducks face turned fire red and his eyes went wild.
“If you so even mention my arm again I’ll hog tie you like the hedgehog
you are and throw you to the Swat-bots!” The Duck got right up in Sonic face.
Sonic stopped breathing for a second. “And my name is not Quacky, it’s Bean!”
finished Bean the duck.
“Uh, yeah. Okay.” replied Sonic. The duck calmed down a little.
“ Now come on, follow me.” Bean started to crawl down the tube with his
one arm. Sonic followed after him.
“So uh, Bean. What where you doing there anyway.” asked Sonic as they
continued to crawl down the bright tube passage.
“I got a call that there was a Swat bot brigade holding somebody
hostage. I was sent to make sure that the person was freed. And now that I’ve
answered your question, it’s my turn. What were you doing that got you caught
by Swat bots?” said Bean
“ I was captured when those bots came and destroyed my village.”
replied Sonic.
“What was the name of your village, kid.” asked Bean. Sonic hesitated.
He didn’t know the duck very well and from what he knew about other zones,
Knothole could be everything from a utopian city to the very embodiment of an
evil. Sonic took a chance and said “Knothole.” Bean eyed Sonic curiously.
“When was this “Knothole” destroyed?” Bean asked curiously.
“Just a few hours ago, I guess.” Sonic answered, wondering where the
discussion would go next.
“That’s impossible.” said Bean as he turned around. “Knothole has been
destroyed for 3 years now.”
