Fast Forward In Time - Chapter 18

Early Morning, Tuesday, June 7th, 2007
Spencer Home

Nicolas and Angela had shown up and Lucky was telling them what he knew when the doorbell rang. Luke jumped up to answer it thinking it was Sonny and more guards but he came face to face with a man holding a gun.

"Come with me." he ordered at him and then turned to Lucky, "You too!"

Nicolas had moved in front of Angela and his mother. Luke looked at Lucky and then back towards the man with the gun. "I'll go but leave my son out of it!"

Lucky walked up next to his father, "I'll go," he said, his eyes filling with water as he turned back to look at Elizabeth, "Just don't hurt them." He placed his hand over his heart and took a deep breath, "I love you more than life. Don't ever doubt or forget that." He turned around again not able to bear the look on her face and heard Elizabeth softly say, "I love you too."

Luke and Lucky were led to a large black car and when they got in the back seat the gunman got in with them. There were two other men in the car, both in the front seat, and they were separated from them by a mesh barrier.

As they were driving away Lucky turned around to look at his parents house and then looked at his father. There were tears in his eyes.

Laura was talking to Sonny on his cell phone and Nicolas and Angela were holding eachother as they both softly cried.

"Sonnys' on his way," Laura said through her tears as she hung up the phone. She scanned the room and saw only Nicolas and Angela. "Where's Elizabeth?" she asked them alarmed.

Nicolas and Angela pulled away from eachother and looked at her. "Oh Shit!" Nicolas said as he began searching the house. "Elizabeth? LIZ?" They called, but got no answer.

A very tired and contrary Lu-Lu came down over the stairs, "What's with all the racket?"

Elizabeth was following the car closely, but she was far enough away so they wouldn't see her. She kept seeing the look on Luckys' face as he told her he loved her before he had walked out the door. It was as if he was saying good-bye. That wasn't going to happen. Not after everything they had been through. Not now. They were just beginning not ending. There was no way she was gonna let anything happen to him. She had this look of fear and determination on her face as she watched the car pull into a small clearing and stop. She hadn't noticed that there was another car behind her and the driver of the third car never paid attention to her as she drove past the clearing. She slowed a little ways past the road and pulled into the bushes. She looked out her side window in time to see the other car stop. She didn't recognize it, so she knew it wasn't anyone associated with Sonny. ‘Who is that?' she asked herself as she carefully got out and gently shut the door.

>>>>>

Lucky was sitting by the door behind the driver side and he reached for the handle but it wouldn't open.

"The doors can only be opened from the outside Lucas." Faison said from the front passenger seat.

Lucky felt sick at the sound of his voice and as the man turned to face him it got worse. Faison looked different but the same. Luke felt Lucky stiffen and grabbed the mesh between them. "YOU SON OF A BITCH!" he yelled as he pulled and punched the metal trying to break through to get at him, "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT? IF IT WAS ME THEN WHY DID YOU GO AFTER MY ONLY SON? WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST COME AFTER ME?" Luke was full of rage and tears were streaming down his face.

Lucky was trying to stop his father, "DAD, DAD, STOP!" He didn't want to provoke Faison. He just wanted to get out of there. Alive.

The guy in the back seat with them had his gun to Lukes' head. "Relax Denis," Faison said as he got out of the car. The guy that was driving got out with him and pulled his gun, as he opened the back door and motioned for Lucky to get out.

When they were all outside the gunman handcuffed Luckys' and Lukes' hands behind their backs. Faison lit a cigar and took a long drag from it before speaking. "I would think that you would have figured out that my taking your only son was the perfect way to hurt you." he said looking only at Luke.

Elizabeth was hiding in the bushes just near enough to hear what was being said. She had gotten as close as she could before they had gotten out of the car, but she was hardly even breathing now for fear that they would hear her.

"What do you want?" Lucky asked him as calmly as he could.

"He wants to kill us of course!" Luke said sarcastically.

Faison laughed slightly. "If I wanted to kill you I would have done it already." He took another long drag of his cigar before continuing. "Actually, I am here to save you Lucky." He looked at Lucky and then at Luke.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Luke demanded, "From who?"

"If I tell you, you have to promise to never come after me again after I leave." Faison was looking at Lucky again.

"You're crazy! After everything you've done you expect us to let you walk away?" Luke couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Lucky," Faison said slowly, "You know that I could have killed your precious Elizabeth if I wanted to don't you?"

Lucky noticed that his tone wasn't threatening and nodded.

"But I didn't. I have no desire to harm any one of you anymore," he looked at Luke, "Not even you."

Luke wasn't buying his act. "Do you expect us to believe that?"

"I don't care if you believe me or not! I have grown tired of this whole thing!" Faison threw down the remainder of his cigar and stomped on it. "Tell me you won't come after me or my family and I will tell you why I am here."

"FORGET IT!" Luke shouted.

Lucky turned towards his father, "Dad, just do it! I want it to be over. Once and for all!" There were tears coming from his eyes as he spoke.

"Lucky, you can't possibly believe he is telling the truth?" Luke was dumbfounded.

"Dad, he was watching you every second after he took me hostage and he never once hurt any of you physically."

"He still took you from us and locked you up like a caged animal!"

"I haven't forgotten! Believe me! But I also want this to be over! So just say the words! Please!" Lucky was begging his father to let it go.

"FINE!" he shouted turning back to Faison. "But you remember this, I will be keeping an eye on your every move for the rest of our lives!" You could hear the venom dripping from his tone. "Now, spill it!"

Faison didn't believe Luke for a second but he had wanted to test Lucky. He wanted to see if Lucky would believe him and he did. He leaned against his car and took out another cigar. When he had it lit he told them what he knew. "Two days ago I was informed that before she died, Helena hired a hit man. She paid him up front with ten million dollars American," he looked at Lucky, "to kill you when he found you."

Elizabeth was horrified. She placed her hand over her mouth from the shock.

"Who told you about this?" Lucky asked him softly.

"That isn't important. What is important is that I know he is here in Port Charles, and he is out for blood."

"That's bull! If Helena is dead, why would he even care? He has his money." Luke didn't believe him.

"Mr. Spencer, you must have realized through your battles with Helena that she has back-up for everything? She told him lies of your family and Luckys' existence. He thinks that Lucky is the illegitimate child his dead wife had years ago. She found out his wife was raped and gotten pregnant from it, and that she had given it up for adoption. After years of trying to have children of their own without success she killed herself, and he has been searching for the child ever since. He is obsessed with the idea that it is this child's, Luckys' fault that his wife is dead and he wants to watch him suffer the way his wife did." He turned back to Lucky, "She has made sure that he will come after you, no matter what the cost."

"This is insane!" Lucky said looking at Faison. "How could he know that I was still alive when no one else did?"

"She told him that you had faked your death and gave him a picture of you that she said was taken at your new home. It was altered of course, but he didn't know that. She told him that you killed her daughter, and you would send her pictures periodically to taunt her with your freedom. She convinced him that was why she was hiring him to find you and kill you."

Elizabeth remembered the other car that had been following them and frantically started looking around her.

Luke and Lucky were totally speechless. Neither of them could believe it yet they knew that Helena was capable of anything.

"Do you know what this guy looks like?" Lucky asked him.

Faison reached in his shirt pocket and pulled out a picture of him. "His name is Rick Benson."

As Faison held up the picture for Luke and Lucky to see, Elizabeth saw something shiny through the trees directly across the clearing. When she looked closer she realized that it was the scope from a gun and she panicked. She stood from the bushes and ran towards Lucky.

"LUCKY!" she screamed.

They all whipped their heads around to see Elizabeth running towards them. She put her arms out directly in front of her and when they made contact with Luckys' chest she shoved him as hard as she could. He lost his footing and fell back into his father and they both fell to the ground as the shot was fired. Faisons' men immediately starting firing as they ran towards the trees where the shot had come from.

Just before Elizabeth fell, Lucky saw her body jerk to the side. "NOOOOO!!!!" he screamed as she collapsed half on top of him. "Elizabeth, look at me!" he was starting to panic, "Please! Elizabeth baby please."

"Take these cuffs of us!" Luke told Faison when the gun fire stopped. He pulled the keys from his pocket and unlocked Lukes' hands. Luke grabbed the keys and unlocked Luckys' as he carefully turned on his side, and began to sit up. She had hit her head hard on the ground when she fell and was unconscious. "Elizabeth?" He gently rolled her over and searched her body for blood. He saw a steady stream of it coming from her right side. "OH GOD!" he put a small amount of pressure over the wound with his hand, "ELIZABETH!" he was shaking her gently as he yelled at her. "PLEASE DON"T DO THIS! WAKE UP! PLEASE!" He was sobbing as he desperately tried to get her to regain consciousness, "Please, don't leave me!" He leaned over and with trembling lips kissed her face, "Please!" He wiped the blood from the cut on her forehead.

"Do you have a cell phone?" Luke asked Faison harshly as he knelt beside Lucky and Elizabeth. He looked at Faison who was nodding towards him. "WELL GO GET IT!" He took Elizabeths' wrist in his hands, "She has a pulse but it's weak." he said as he watched his son lay his head on her chest. He got up and walked to Faison snatching the phone from his hands. He called 9-1-1 and told them where they were and that there had been a shooting.

"Elizabeth, why did you come here? Why'd you do that, huh?" Lucky was listening to her heart beat through her chest as he spoke softly to her, "I love you so much! You can't leave me!" He was still sobbing uncontrollably into her shirt with his hand pressed to her wound when his father knelt back down beside him. "They're sending a chopper for her. They'll be here soon," he said gently as he laid his hand on his sons shaking back.

Lucky felt Elizabeth stir and sat up immediately. "Elizabeth?" She couldn't feel anything until she tried to open her eyes. She moaned and Lucky put his hand on the side of her face, "Open your eyes, please baby, look at me!"

"Lucky?" she said barely a whisper, "Are you okay?"

Lucky laughed through his tears and kissed her lips, "I will be as long as you don't leave me!"

Elizabeth was relieved to hear his voice but she couldn't get her eyes open. "I'm so cold," she said as she started to fall back into blackness.

Luke pulled off his coat and wrapped it around her as Lucky pulled her to him. "You have to stay awake sweetie. You need to stay conscious for me. Okay?"

When he got no answer he pulled her back a little, "Elizabeth! Please!" He was sobbing again as he cradled her to him and rocked her limp body in his arms. He put his head back and screamed at the sky, "DON'T YOU TAKE HER FROM ME!! PLEASE!! DON'T MAKE ME LIVE WITHOUT HER!! I CAN'T!! I WON'T!! Oh God, please!" He hugged her close to him trying to keep her warm as he continued to beg God softly not to take her away from him.

The helicopter showed up after what seemed like forever to take Elizabeth to the hospital. When they landed and brought the stretcher to her they checked her vitals, bandaged her cuts and wound, put a neck splint on her and hooked her up to an I.V. Lucky was holding her hand the entire time telling the medics to hurry up. As they were heading back to the chopper one of the attendants tried to tell Lucky he couldn't go.

"I'm sorry sir, you can't come with us. There isn't enough room."

"LIKE HELL! If you think you are leaving here without me you're sadly mistaken." Lucky was adamant and the medic decided not to argue with him.
